Wondering what’s worthwhile on TV tonight? (I’ll tell you: BIG LOVE’s season finale). What about on Monday? (EVERWOOD’s two hour Series Finale). But aside from that, you can check out Jenny’s Guide on WHAT TO WATCH by clicking this link. It contains great info on what to check out each and every week. My DVD Marathon!
Last night a friend and I (Lauren to be more specific – podcast listeners may remember hearing ‘Thors’ or ‘Shakira’ as she is often referred to) decided to have a TV on DVD marathon. Not wanting to just throw on a single series, we decided to mix-it-up a bit and go ‘crazy’. After countless minutes of intense debate, we decided to watch Series Premiere episodes only. (Crazyness I know!)
Bad News for EVERWOOD
According to Scoop God Michael Ausiello:
Hate to be a buzzkill, but that rumor floating around about Everwood possibly getting an 11th-hour reprieve from the CW is “not true,” says executive producer Rina Mimoun. “The sets have been torn down already.” A rep for the CW also denied that talks to bring Everwood back for a fifth season were underway. In fact, the WB put out a press release late yesterday plugging Monday’s two-hour “series finale.”
All that said, I see no reason to halt the “Save Everwood” movement. Keep signing those petitions and writing those letters. Heck, go rent a blimp and park it over Dawn Ostroff’s house. But most importantly, watch Monday’s finale, and urge your friends ane enemies — especially those with Nielsen boxes — to do the same. All we need is 7 million folks to do so and Ostroff will have no choice but to reverse her decision.
Godspeed.
TV Quotes of the Week!
BATTLESTAR deserves an Emmy!
If there is one show that will likely be snubbed by the Emmy voters it’s TV’s most daring drama, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Sadly, Sci-Fi shows pretty much get zero respect from voters – regardless of the fact that BSG transcends the sci-fi genre. After-all, why would an emmy voter award original and exciting material when they can give old favourites like LAW & ORDER its 100th emmy nod. Check out the great ‘For Your Consideration’ page that Sci-Fi has thoughtfully put online. You can see clips from all of our favorite Capricans (and perhaps a cylon or two as well!). Click here to view the page. Special thanks to ‘Thors’ for the tip!
David Sutcliffe Interview Update
Just thought I’d let everyone know that I had the great pleasure of interviewing DAVID SUTCLIFFE. this past Wednesday. David gave some really great, honest and unexpected answers to my questions. It was quite clear how much respect he has for the show that has made him famous, his fellow actors/actresses and most importantly, the fans. Check back next week to find out answers to some interesting questions, including:
David’s thoughts on Amy-Sherman Palladino’s exit.
His relationship with Lauren Graham
The evolution of Christopher
And most importantly, could Christopher take Luke down in a fight for Lorelai’s Love!
Save Marissa Cooper!
This is too good a link to pass up. Apparently, there is quite a large faction of OC fans (umm there are still OC fans out there?) who want to see MARISSA COOPER SAVED! No this isn’t a joke, there’s even a web site up called Save Marissa. The site is pretty intense. For instance, on the front page, a quote reads
Dear Josh, You just committed a double homicide, First you killed my character, Then you killed your show.
Who knew Marissa had such a loyal fanbase? I guess there are a lot of really skinny alcoholic teens out there! Personally I enjoyed Marissa the past few seasons, and she definitely grew more interesting, and improved her acting skills. I think the problem with ‘Coop’ was that the writers didn’t know what to do with her. How many more times can Marissa end up dating the ‘Wrong Guy’ or collapsing due to alcohol? The latest rumour floating around the net is that Marissa will be in a coma for six episodes until Misha Barton finishes off filming a movie. I’ll keep you all posted if I hear anything on the Save Marissa front. No doubt there are a ton of concerned Marissa fans out there!
Flashback: Beverly Hills 90210
I remember it like it was yetserday. There I was, eating lunch in the ‘quad, only to have a helicopter fly overhead inviting me to the big ‘back to school’ bash! Man I was excited. I couldn’t wait to take my corvette into the hills to spend my Friday evening unsupervised, at a fully catered party (complete with flood lights shining into the clear hollywood hill sky). I also couldn’t wait for the inevitable point in the night when everybody ends up jumping in the swimming pool fully clothed. Oh wait, that wasn’t my life, it was the first episode EVER of BEVERLY HILLS 90210.
Seriously, what a trip, watching the premiere episode of the FOX show that got me hooked on TV. The cheesy lines (Brenda proclaiming that she’s going to need a bigger allowance), the awful hairstyles (Yes, Brandon had a mullet) and a freshman David Silver looking like he was 12 years old. The episode was such a trip (down memory lane). It was so nice to see the old gang from West Bev. All that was missing was an appearance by ‘bad boy’ Dylan McKay (I’m pretty sure he shows up, side-burns and all, in episode 3).
Tomorrow is the continuation of the two hour premiere. Will Steve find out that David smashed his car up? Will Brandon get a hair cut? Will Brenda continue to pretend she’s in University to date a creepy older guy? and finally, will Tori Spelling get more then one line? Tune in tomorrow – same 90210 time, same 90210 channel!
30 ROCK Preview
I literally will watch TINA FEY read a phone book. I loved her on SNL, and loved every minute of MEAN GIRLS. Her latest project is the NBC comedy called 30 ROCK (Scheduled to air this fall on NBC, Wednesdays at 9:30pm). 30 ROCK features Tina as a Liz Lemon, the head writer of a fictional television show called ‘The Girly Show’. Tina’s character is being pushed to the edge by the show’s two stars and a demanding network honcho (played brilliantly by Alec Baldwin). For a great first look of the show, hop on over to nbc.com. After watching the preview, I have no doubt you’ll be as excited for 30 ROCK as I am.
