Argh…No Kristen Bell or Lauran Graham! This new Emmy System is an absolute bust! Well, not entirely, Lisa Kudrow and Denis Leary nabbed themselves long-deserved nominations, but still, no love for Veronica or the Gilmores….Argh!!!

  • Kari

no housewives or lost. no grey’s anatomy actors?

  • Matt

Wow. I’m disappointed. No Veronica Mars, No Zack Braff but Kevin James?, No Lost, but West Wing. What the hell were these people voting based on?

  • Common Sense

Oh, give me a frikkin break. Charlie Sheen? Two & A Half Idiots? Stockard Channing??! How many other “cancelled” series with mediocre (but popular-in-Hollywood) stars can the revered Ac-cah-demy suck up to? If Sheen’s show is one of the top 5 comedies on TV, we’re in sad shape, man.

At least they recognized the genius of Steve Carell and The Office. But, hmmm, over the course of 11 years, they could never even acknowledge the existence of the 5th broadcast network? The WB has produced some of the most cherished shows in history (Buffy, Gilmore, Felicity, Everwood)…and the morons who vote continue to give us Stockard Channing. Incredible.

Sure it was expected… but still, Kristen Bell deserves a nod. Lauren Graham… this wasn’t her best season – not sure if I would have given her a nomination. Not to say she doesn’t deserve 5 emmys for previous seasons. Happy that LISA KUDROW got a nod… THE COMEBACK was amazing. the WB gets no respect.

  • Eduardo Castro Fonseca

Are they joking or something?? Kristen and Lauren deserve the award more than anyone else… and how come Hugh is not nominated for House?

Thank god LOST wasn’t nominated, this season was bad! Still the Emmys need a LOT of fixing… let’s fire everyone there.

Congratulations TVADDICT. My “live stream” of the nominations went down on the third round of nominations. I searched the usual sites for any kind of list and you were the only one that had any list of nominees. Great work for trumping all the competition!!!!

I’m going to sit in a perpetual state of shock for a minute. On one hand, the 2.5 Men love was rumoured and I mentioned it in yesterday’s column, but never for a minute did I think that they’d go through with nominating it….wow….I’ll have my official breakdown later today, but wow…Initial reaction was definitely a big yay for Denis Leary and Chris Meloni. That’s thrilling….

Blech, I gave “The Comeback” a chance. I watched 3 episodes and I hated each one more than the last. I love Lisa Kudrow, but that character was SO annoying I couldn’t watch anymore. I’m pulling for Stockard Channing in that category. She was actually pretty hysterical in the shitty show that was “Out of Practice.” I have a feeling Julia Louis-Dreyfus will win.

No Lost? No nominations for ANY of the Grey’s cast? This system was supposed to be more fair, not insane.

THE COMEBACK is an acquired taste. It took me a few episodes to get over how annoying Lisa’s character was. She really grew to become endearing. The Emmy Voters LOVE Stockard.. she has been given way too many nods for too little work on THE WEST WING. She is awesome, but how about giving the NEXT GEN a chance… Kristin Bell… NO BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!

I am thrilled to see two of Law & Order’s SVU stars nominated. The TVADDICT doesn’t pay much attention to this great franchise and the work of the outstanding casts. Glad to see more recognition for it with Meloni’s nod.

  • http://www.thetvaddict.com thetvaddict

Amrie: Agreed… 2.5 men.. HUH? I’m sorry, it’s not funny
Snow: Law & Order…. Mariska, didn’t she miss half the season for pregnancy? She’s great, but not this year. I’m fine with Christopher Meloni for getting some recognition. How’s that for some L&O talk!?

  • http://www.mrubinoff.com Snow

thetvaddict: Judi Dench has proven it is not the quantity of screen time it is the quality. Maybe if you lead a save Trial By Jury campaign we would have more Law & Order!!!!!! Anyways I hope Meloni scores a win.

In Supporting Actors of 24 finally getting some recognition news – let’s hear it for the Pres and his first lady scoring nominations!!!!! I’m very sad that John Krasinski wasn’t nominated, but thrilled Jaime Pressly and Sandra Oh were. Even more thrilled that Chandra Wilson got nominated. PS – remember when I (scarily) said Ducky was going to get nominated? HE freaking DID….

  • http://www.myspace.com/whatisthegfor Tim G.

Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson for Drama Supporting Actress, but no T.R. Knight for Supporting Actor? TRAVESTY!

  • http://www.thetvaddict.com thetvaddict

Since I’m jumping on the GREY’S bandwagon, having only watched the season 1 DVD. I’m excited that there are two hours tonight on ABC!

Very cool of the voters to recognize The Prez and first lady (Amrie, I like to spell Prez with a Z!). Not happy that Keifer got another nod. How hard is it to play angry and violent all the time? I also wouldn’t have given it a best drama… BATTLESTAR definitely deserved it.

  • http://www.thetvaddict.com/?cat=38 Amrie

I want to marry Kiefer, so I’ll support his nomination hahahaha….Just wanted to take a minute to say a “YAY” for Kate Winslet getting nominated as guest actress on “Extras” as “herself”. She just rocked that part in the most hilarious way…too funny.

  • mg714

I’m upset about a lot of the omissions – Hugh Laurie, Zach Braff and the whole cast of Scrubs, the supporting cast of The Office, Jason Bateman (especially since AD and Will Arnet were nominated) and most of all no Lauren Graham and no Lost noms!!!! I didn’t expect Kristen Bell to break through the noms, even though she definitely deserves it. I really don’t think the panel system worked all that well. If it did, how in the world did Kevin James and Two and a Half Men get nominated? Do they really think that is Emmy caliber comedy work? They are not even in the same vicinity as The Office or Scrubs or Arrested Development. If Two and a Half Men actually win anything, the Emmys have officially become irrelevant.

  • http://www.thetvaddict.com thetvaddict

I think the difficult thing about dealing with the Emmys is that voters only vote on ONE episode that was submitted by the show. So even though I’m not a fan of Two and a Half Men, it’s possible they had one REALLY FUNNY episode! Emmy voters don’t take into account an entire season of work, rather the episode they watched. It’s also worth noting that I don’t think Emmy Voters watch nearly as much TV as TV addicts (such as myself). When you’re off making a show all season long, you probably don’t have the time to watch everything that your TIVO has filled up!

  • mg714

That’s a good point about the vote being based on just one episode. I guess it would be difficult to evaluate all the shows over a whole season, but shouldn’t that be what the Emmys are about? Isn’t the category really the Outstanding Comedy (or Drama) SERIES, not episode?

Oh well – you can’t make everyone happy, but for those of us who really pay attention and love TV, my sense is that the noms were not actually the best choices in many cases.

  • http://www.thetvaddict.com thetvaddict

mg714: I completely agree with you. Reading the comments out on the net this morning. A LOT of people are unhappy with the ‘new and improved’ system!

  • http://watchwithintelligence.blogspot.com Traci

The Emmy panel needs new voters because they’ve been a let-down for awhile now…Come on, no Lauren Graham, Kristen Bell, Kelly Bishop, or Hugh Laurie?? But yet Kevin James??? Argh!!

  • http://www.tubetalk.blogspot.com tubetalkgirl

I can’t believe Donald Faison from Scrubs wasn’t on the list. Or Kristen Bell. Or any of my Lost boys. Or…TV Addict, where did we go wrong? Have we not preached to our readers about good quality TV? I’m convinced that Emmy voters couldn’t find their way to The WB or UPN with a roadmap and a remote control. Anyway, my take on the situation is at Tube Talk.

i know this is freaking repetitive but again…KRISTEN BELL? HELLO? LAUREN GRAHAM???? HUGH LAURIE, our lovable dr. house?? AND WTF were they doing with stockard channing? her show was more retarded than 7th heaven. and that is a serious insult, if you know what i mean. the emmys are pure shit now. i laughed at half of these names. i am sorry, but kevin james has got to be the crappiest piece of shit that i have ever heard. he ate up a spot that an actually good actor could have taken. there were so many good ones that didnt make the list. but somehow that fat loser did.
