hey all,

first time on this site. first time watching the show "real time" and not on dvd. i much prefer the dvd watches. it seemed like there was a commercial every 5 minutes and that bothered the heck out of me. i enjoyed the episode alright, but it wasn't my favorite. two things that stuck out to me:

1. an earthquake happens and all the residents go outside and..."look up in the air?" what? who stares into the sky after an earthquake. then, several long seconds later the sound of a plane occurs and the site of the plane being torn apart appears. although, i think ben/henry looked up first and they may have all followed his cue, but still it seemed out of place.

2. ben/henry uses a french press coffee pot during kate's breakfast. for those who have every used a french press, it doesn't push down that easy and also, it pushes down way farther than that because you are separating all the water from the coffee grounds. (this one is just stupid and nitpicky - but it really stuck out for some reason...hehe) oh, and if you've never used a french press for coffee...you really should try it- it's amazing.

hehe...can't wait for next week.

Sam,

It's because I genuinely WANT to love this show. Season one rocked. I watched it on DVD, so that could have been why. I watch it because I want answers like everyone else. It's just frustrating every single week.

I love how nitpicky you are with everything, addictaddict. You claim to hate this show but you certainly do have a lot to say about it (instead of, I don't know, NOT watching it maybe).

I have to say that this seasons premiere was much better than last season in the fact that it seemed to move at a somewhat faster pace. Sure we don't get a lot of significant answers, but that's part of the shows appeal. It's like a big guessing game. I guess you just have to like complex mysteries and must possess enough patience to bear with the show.

We learned where the polar bears came from.
> You're right. I can sleep easier tonight.

We learned what drove Jack’s father over the edge.
> OMG. That wasn't really neeewww information. Sure, we learned what happened, but it wasn't like we learned anything new to progress the storyline ON THE ISLAND

We learned where the Others live.
> We've always known they are somewhere secluded on the island. We finally saw their homes. I admit, that was kind of cool.

We learned the Others definitely have a connection to the outside world.
> We've clearly known that for a longggggg time

We learned that the Others ARE infact the remnants of Dharma, but that things are much different now then they used to be.
> Same as above

How many answers do you want out of each ep?
> It's not that I want answers, I want a story that progresses each episode. Nothing actually HAPPENED this episode. We got some plot details, backstories, etc, but nothing actually happened. That's the problem with this show. Don't get me wrong, I am intrigued by the secrets of the island, but this show exemplifies everything that is wrong with television - big ratings, cliffhangers, hot babes, big budget's are the key to success these days. LOST has those all, but unfortunately lacks the glue to bind them all together. It says something about a show when the best part from week to week are the last two minutes (which sucked this episode) and the previews for next week.

I have to agree with you... the first few minutes, brilliant.... the rest of the episode, not so much. I'm actually more convinced then ever that LOST should be watched on DVD to avoid frustration. The episodes are essentially chapters in a very long story - but in essence, nothing much happened this episode. We learned there is another hatch, an underwater one - no surprise to anyone who remembers the season 1 shark. Additionally, Jack got divorced, we knew that. Oh yeah, and Henry Gale's name isn't really Henry Gale... shocker! That said, I'll be watching the show next week - and you know what 'theTVaddictaddict' I bet you will be too!

OH MAN. Great opening to one of the worst LOST episodes in recent memory. How could it be possible to butcher a season premiere like that? Let me guess...Everyone is going to post here saying I am sooo wrong and that it was wicked. Prove me wrong...They could have summed up what we learned tonight in 2 minutes...Here's to another tedious, annoying season...
