Is Your Favourite Show on the Bubble?

Variety has released its Annual list of Television shows on the bubble, and I for one am not pleased with some of the shows that made their list.

Over on NBC, the first show mentioned is the show critics love to hate STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP. While this comes as no surprise, count me in as one of the few television voices who is hoping that the Aaron Sorkin skein sees a second season. Hasn’t SPORTS NIGHT and THE WEST WING earned Sorkin a network good will?

Two things on the above list surprise me. Firstly, GEORGE LOPEZ is still on the air, who knew? And secondly, ABC has so many shows on the bubble. GREY’S ANATOMY, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS and LOST really did a fantastic job of hiding the massive holes in ABC’s schedule this season. pleads for the return of: It says quite a lot that I honestly couldn’t care if any of the above shows return next season.

Thanks to the success of the CSI franchise and the overall strength of the CBS schedule, it’s not a good time to be on the bubble at the Tiffany network. On Monday, the surprise strength of RULES OF ENGAGEMENT could mean doom for THE CLASS and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE. That said, after a strong finish to the season, this TV addict certainly hopes CBS shows THE CLASS the same patience NBC gave THE OFFICE. pleads for the return of: THE CLASS, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE

As a result of the juggernaut that is AMERICAN IDOL, odds are you may not have noticed that FOX pretty much hasn’t launched a successful show since PRISON BREAK. STANDOFF, THE WAR AT HOME, WEDDING BELLS all look to be on the bubble with the Rob Corddry laugher THE WINNER, well not exactly living up to its namesake in the ratings department. pleads for the return of: THE WINNER, Rob Corddry deserves a second season to shine (with a set of parents who are actually funny)

As much as it pains me to say this, VERONICA MARS may have bigger problems than the fact that death and mystery follow her wherever she goes. MARS hasn’t attracted the audience the new CW had hoped for and THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS are holding on to a far greater number of viewers from its GILMORE GIRLS lead in (again, who is really watching the Pussycat Dolls?).

That said, this TV addict steadfastly believes that CW prez Dawn Ostroff isn’t about to pull an ‘EVERWOOD’ with VERONICA MARS. pleads for the return of: EVERWOOD, yes still. But this season I’ll settle for VERONICA MARS.

What show are you hoping too see return for another season? Chime in below.

30 Rock, VM and S60 for me. Don’t care one bit about the others listed.

  • tralfaz

I have to admit, I love The Class. It’s such a fantastic combination of character-driven comedy and sudsy drama. I frackin’ love a comedy that gives me a cliffhanger!

  • Jennifer

30 Rock is so hilarious, I hope it returns if only to see Kenneth…….Studio 60 should be given another chance, I suppose, if they can keep the self righteousness down a touch. Great column!

  • Nina

    VM and Studio 60!

  • Jenny

Of the shows on the bubble that I watch: Crossing Jordan, Medium, L&O & L&O: CI, MiT, Big Day, Help Me Help You, In Case of Emergency, The Nine, According to Jim, George Lopez, The Class, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Standoff, The War at Home, Veronica Mars

I’m REALLY hoping these come back:
    Crossing Jordan
    Big Day
    In Case of Emergency
    Old Christine
    War at Home

And I’ll be REALLY REALLY sad if these don’t:
    According to Jim
    George Lopez
    Men in Trees
    The Class
    Veronica Mars

    The others eh.

  • Thelma

The only show that I would be really heartbroken to lose would be Veronica Mars. I just think that show has more story to tell. It would be nice if Crossing Jordan is renewed.

As for the Pussycat Dolls getting more ratings. It has only aired once and not against very much competition. I will wait until it goes head to head with American Idol before I call it a hit or a viable threat to VM.

Seriously, CW renew Veronica Mars (and Supernatural)

  • Sam

If they cancel Veronica Mars I will never watch the Cw again. I feel that strongly.

  • demondoll

I love 30 Rock- I hope it stays

  • thetvaddict

Sam, if the CW brought back EVERWOOD I bet you’d tune in!

  • mars_mg

my full support goes to Veronica Mars and Friday Night Lights. I can’t lose any of these two… seriously.

  • glenn

Veronica Mars deserves a 4th season. I don’t really care about those other shows, especially dislike the Pussycat Dolls.

  • Courtney

I’m completely with mars_mg – Friday Night Lights and Veronica Mars are the two that I can’t live without.

  • Linda B.

I would really be upset if The Class doesn’t return. I wouldn’t be surprised though. I don’t think CBS has put everything behind it. Don’t think it was ever properly advertised.

I really love 30 Rock. It’d be sad to see that go. I really feel it will get renewed.

I watch Medium and enjoy it, but wouldn’t be heartbroken if it got cancelled. Sure wish they’d use her husband Joe more. He was great in the Valentine’s day episode.

I started The Nine, and found it mildly entertaining, but it’s been off the air so long now, that i don’t doubt at all they’ll announce it has been cancelled. What have they been waiting for???

  • Common Sense

It would be nice for Veronica Mars to achieve the necessary 4th season for syndication, since it IS such a quality show. But beyond that, perhaps The CW can use one time-period for two shows, running VM straight thru from Sept. to mid-Jan., then replacing it with a different series for either 13 or more episodes. Viewers are just getting lost, with shows on, then off, then on, then off….networks are going to have to begin MORE original programming to keep people coming back each week. Frankly, life is more complicated & busy these days, and once you get away from TV for a short time, it’s easy to realize just how little we really need it. Sad, but true.

  • Bob

Please give up the Everwood cancellation whining, it was getting old nine months ago.

  • sunryse

Veronica Mars and Men in Trees. It amazes me that people would rather watch Bimbos on Parade or other mindnumbing reality/game shows than watch shows about smart, strong women.

  • Shannon

Veronica Mars. Like Sam, I will never again watch anything the CW airs if they cancel that show. It is the best show on television, followed closely by Friday Night Lights and Brothers and Sisters.

  • Anita

I am also holding out for Veronica Mars. It’s the only show on TV that I consider a ‘MUST WATCH’. I love Supernatural, Heroes and Battlestar Galatica but Veronica Mars owns my soul. It’s smart, witty, well-acted and still has more than enough creative juice to give us a phenomenal season 4. If the CW wants me to give their pilots a chance next year, then they need to do the same for Veronica Mars and give the show a season 4.

  • Vanessa

I’m really hoping Veronica Mars returns next year. That show is so amazing and like someone else said, there is too much story left to tell to just end it this year. Also, Friday Night Lights is great and I would love it to last another season. I don’t always get to see it but I love it when I do. I hope networks decide to renew these quality shows.

  • Laura

Veronica Mars!!!! There are other things I wouldn’t mind if they come back, but I will be sooooooo sad and probably never want to watch the CW again if Veronica Mars doesn’t come back!!!

  • Riana

Veronica Mars is my only appointment television. I love Friday Night Lights, but VM has seniority.

  • Tamara

Veronica Mars. I, too, will disown the CW if it ditches our girl.

  • Painted Shadow

There are only two on the list that I desperately care about – The Class and Standoff. Everything else I’m fairly ambivalent about…though I’d be happy to kill “The Winner” and “Wedding Bells”

  • Zach

    THE WINNER!!!!
Bring it back, that show is so funny. And if you don’t think so, you’re probaly half retarded.
