This is by FAR the best TV show I have seen in years. I have read the actual FNL by Bissinger dozens of times, and seen the movie probably 20 times. However, one can never understand the fundamentals of a “football” show that isn’t a football show. It’s real life, drama, love, and dedication. I can’t WAIT for the DVD set to come out, and for season 2! The creators and actors of this very unique drama need to be applauded in every way possible. Every show has a new spin, issue, or development, which keeps me fully tuned in. I plan to go to (near) Austin to see a real taping and can’t wait. Kyle Chandler and his family are so wonderful, and I, too, hope that the comment about Riggins is wrong. He’s a doll. Wow, what a great show….wouldn’t miss it for the world! GO DILLON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with almost everything you said, but I really hope that you are wrong about Riggins’ relationship ending badly. I think that relationship is exactly what Riggins needs and I hope he doesn’t stuff it up. He seemed to love being part of a family. ~~I *heart* Riggins~~

I absolutely agree – though I have thought FNL is the best show (along with The Office) for some time now already! I do think that some of the lack of viewers may be due to the thought that it’s all about high school football and also that it may be perceived as being just like some of those teen shows that we’ve seen before (I won’t bother mentioning them here, though!). But as the FNL fans know, these two things couldn’t be further from the truth. FNL is such a complete show – with football as just the backdrop for what unfolds every week, we see drama, comedy, tragedy – often all in one episode – and it never feels fake. It’s just real life and it has something that everyone can relate to, even if you didn’t grow up or live in a small town like Dillon…. I totally adore this show and I don’t know what I’ll do over the summer hiatus (yes, I do believe there will be a second season). Guess I’ll just have to watch all the episodes I’ve recorded until the “official” DVD comes out, and then watch that over and over again!

I have to agree with everyone. This is one of the best shows on TV. There are very few shows that can hold up to something like this. I hope NBC gives it a chance because it deserves it. I am a guy and I played high school football a long time ago, and I can totally relate to a lot of the interaction that happened on the field between the fellas. It was definitely the highlight of the episode for me. There are only a handful of shows that I watch religiously and this is one of them.

Unfortunately people still are caught up in the whole “I don’t watch football” thing. I’ve been trying to spread the word, and I get that more than anything else. I try to explain to them that it really isn’t about football, that it’s really just a part of the setting, but I don’t think people believe me.

Do we think the problem is people are still caught in the ” I don’t watch football” so they don’t tune in…. week in and week out it is the best drama on TV and the ratings are terrible… I just dont get it…. last night ANTM almost caught FNL….. two different timeslots and still people aren’t finding this show….. baffling

I couldn’t agree more with every single thing you said! Last night’s episode was pitch perfect. That scene on the football field had me in tears, it was just so comfortable with those four, and so sweet. I will cry for real if this show isn’t picked up for season 2. It’s sounding like it will be, but you never know….
