STUDIO 60 Set to Return to NBC
Historically, when the television season comes to an end, theTVaddict can generally be found curled up on the floor slowly counting the days until the Fall season begins.
Yet this summer, thanks to ever-increasing competition from the internet, video games and DVDs, networks have finally gotten their act together and come to the realization that they have to provide viewers with quality programming if they intend to keep us watching come June, July and August. (Note to networks: Reality television is not considered quality.)
As a result, fellow TV addicts not only have new seasons of HBO’s BIG LOVE and ENTOURAGE to look forward to. TNT returns with a third season of THE CLOSER and the new Treat Williams drama EVERWOOD 2.0 HEARTLAND.
Add to that, NBC just announced that STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP will be returning to burn off its final six episodes starting Thursday May 24.
Looks like the summer might not be so television free after-all. ‘Getting a life’ and interacting with the outside world will apparently have to wait!
SciFi Unleashes Giant Crocks
When tuning into a SciFi Channel Original movie, you pretty much know what you’re going to get. And LAKE PLACID 2 – airing Saturday at 9 p.m. ET – delivers: Within five minutes, there are mullet references, severed body parts and more ham-fisted actors than you could shake a fist at.
Stick with it another five minutes and you get women stripping down, family dysfunction and Cloris Leachman playing the prerequisite foul-mouthed old lady (her character is the sister of the similarly dispositioned Betty White from the original big-screen flick).
As with most of the channel’s action-packed pics, there’s no time for silly things like character development, so we’re given cardboard caricatures who are both easily identified and disposed of. There’s no pretense that we’re here for anything but the carnage… and that’s why the movie works on a certain mindless level.
We Preview the HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Season Finale
A likable cast, funny story-lines and great writing — what else does CBS expect from their sophomore comedy HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER? Apparently, a larger audience.
With the end of the 06/07 television season fast approaching, the show The New York Observer deemed “The Best Show You’re Not Watching.” inexplicably finds itself on the bubble for a third season renewal. In a desperate attempt to get you to tune in, Jenny (of Jenny’s Week in TV fame) has kindly taken the time to offer up a sneak peak at the two-part season (hopefully not series!) finale.
Veronica Mars Smiling?
Veronica Mars smiling? Now there’s something fans don’t see very often. I wonder what Ms. Mars knows that we don’t?
Did Veronica finally choose between Logan and Piz? Or better yet, has a little birdy named Dawn Ostroff let her know that she still has a job come next season?
Find out in the special two-hour season finale entitled “The Bitch is Back” airing on the new CW on May 22, 2007.
You Like Me… You Really Really Like Me!
Why am I quoting the incomprable Sally Field you ask? Well it turns out you DO like me, or at least someone does!
theTVaddict.com was just notified that we’ve been nominated in two categories at the 2007 Bloggers Choice Awards. Best Entertainment Blog and Best Podcast.
So here’s the deal folks. For over a year we’ve ‘suffered’ through meeting the cast of VERONICA MARS, the 2007 Paley Festival AND a visit to the set of SUPERNATURAL — all with the hopes of creating one of the most entertaining television websites on the net.
If you could take a moment to vote for theTVaddict.com for Best Entertainment Blog and Best Podcast it would truly make our day.
And if we win — we swear — VERONICA MARS will see a fourth season! No jokes, we really do have the power (to leave numerous strongly worded messages on Dawn Ostroff’s answering machine!)
Did NBC Just Cancel SCRUBS?
As I finished watching tonight’s installment of THE OFFICE [interesting episode to say the least] I was shocked to hear the NBC voiceover guy say, “stay tuned for the first of the final four episodes of SCRUBS.” All together now — Whaaat!
Not only did NBC take the time to promote SCRUBS — something they rarely bother to do but the voiceover guy (or is it artist?) didn’t say “…this season,” he simply said “the final four episodes of SCRUBS!” Is it me, or did NBC just subtly announce that this is the end of the line for SCRUBS?
