The dog on the left is Bertha Blue, the one David was walking when a producer for BtVS (referred by one of David’s neighbors) stopped him to talk and get him to come in and audition. Joss Whedon has said he gaged the response of all the ladies in the office after David left – by counting the number of week kneed, jaws dropped, panting females in the office – it was unanimous and Joss knew they had the right guy.

David did this add for PETA sometime around 1999 or 2000, so the comment by Tim G. really isn’t correct – David has tried hard to not be typecast as Angel and so far has been successful at avoiding that problem that a lot of actors go through and don’t succeed.

I did my part. On Monday i wrote out a check for $200 to my local Stray Rescue to help the dogs in need this holiday season. And, my three chows will be nice and toasty warm inside my house all season long (they love tv!)
