    What the heck???

Well… it’s still Smallville so probably Lex will be possessed by some entity who will leave his body in the end and take all the memories…. it’s always like that….

  • KaeDee

Roca – Since the Lex Luthor in the comics doesn’t know Superman’s secret identity, the writers will probably do something that wipes Lex’s memory on Smallville. Otherwise they deviate dangerously from the Superman mythos.

  • Scott

If Jor-El could take away Kara’s memories, he can do the same thing to Lex.

    KaeDee,

I’m not at all familiar with the Superman Comic mythos. Lex really doesn’t know Superman’s true identity? Because I’ve always thought the fact Lex hasn’t connected the dots a little ridiculous.

    KaeDee,

That’s what I meant, they always do that on Smallville, remember the episode where Clark’s dad dies, he tells Lana his secret and Lex eventually finds out but he goes back in time and changes everything. When Zod takes Lex’s body, after he leaves, Lex doesn’t remember a thing….

So, it’s always like that and it is frustrating…. Why do they put the characters in situations where everyone knows in advance that it can’t happen and then create some lame explanation to clean up the mess later?

I was a huge fan of Smallville and still watch the show, but it bothers me that they do that all the time instead of coming up with something original and that in line with the Superman mythology.

  • KaeDee

TV Addict – I’m not totally versed in the Superman myth, but I always thought it filled with incongruities. I mean, would anyone who knows both Clark and Superman really be fooled by a pair of glasses and a bumbling demeanor? I always thought that was rather simplistic. And could Rosenbaum’s street-savvy Lex really know Clark for 7 seasons and not realize who is at the center of every single paranormal disturbance and guess his other-worldlyness? I suppose enjoying Superman is all about suspending belief.

  • KaeDee

Roca – I suppose Smallville’s creators feel that skating close to revealing Clark’s secret garners enough ratings and thrills to justify the “rewind” later. I admit to being a Smallville enthusiast for the first couple season. but the Lana-as-a-witch storyline broke me and I quit watching. I’ve been an occasional viewer over the last couple years, mainly because the Lana/Clark relationship is wearying for me. I want her gone and for Clark to really begin growing up. He’ll be, what, 23 next season? Why isn’t he exploring journalism, or at least taking classes? Just don’t get why the writers aren’t evolving the story. Maybe the departures of Kristin Kreuk and Michael Rosenbaum will force them to make some very good-for-the-series changes.
