I didn’t even know they were remaking “Life on Mars” for American television. Sigh. Well, at least sometimes that can work (The Office) though more often than not it doesn’t. And at least it seems that the American remake of Simon Pegg’s “Spaced” has fallen through.

The Good: The renewal of Boston Legal. So far, that’s about the *only* good TV news I’ve heard in the past few days. BL is often hit & miss (though the hits always make it worth it), but the last three episodes have been among their best. With so many other shows biting the dust, this show may rise to be one of my top 5 favorites.

The Bad: To me, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, and Brothers & Sisters have all had uneven or declining seasons, and Private Practice was only impressive in its very first episode. I’m debating whether Lost, Boston Legal, and Scrubs are going to be the *only* ABC shows I watch next year.

The Weird: Life on Mars on Thursdays at 10PM. If the show is about what I think it’s about, it wouldn’t seem to fit well with Betty & Grey’s. Maybe it’s different than what I’m expecting. With David E. Kelley at the helm, I might give it a chance too.

The Ugly: The cancellation of Men In Trees. I can’t quite form the words. It’s this, as well as other cancellations (Journeyman, Jericho, New Amsterdam, and Moonlight) that are making me disgruntled about TV in general. I may actually try to keep TV watching to a minimum next season and take time to increase my carpentry/woodworking skills, learn a new programming language, or maybe even — read a few books. Sacrilege, I know. ;(

I watch ABC more than any other network thanks to its Thursday line up and Sunday’s “Desperate”. I haven’t watched this much ABC since it was called Aaron Spelling Broadcast. =)

“Eli Stone”, “Pushing Daisies”, “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Brothers & Sisters” = TV happiness. With Supernatural and Friday Night Lights in the clear too, the next season of TV doesn’t look half bad.

I love that Boston Legal and Eli Stone are returning, but can someone tell me why they are not being paired together? Especially since Eli Stone is so obviously more family friendly than it 10 PM airing would suggest?

I think that Eli Stone would work as companion with Boston Legal, call me crazy but I guess that would apply to everyone on both shows.

Kevin, amen to that. I loved Carpoolers, I laughed every week. I know some people just hated it but that show got me every time. Jerry O’Connell was hilarious. I was glad to see he got a new pilot, I hope the other guys find something else too.
