An Early Look at Fall TV 2008: Wednesday

fall tv 2008 preview wednesday

With the Up Fronts behind us, you’re probably wondering what new shows warrant a season’s pass on your DVR/PVR come this fall? Well, wonder no more. Because all week long will be posting our Super Early 2008 Fall TV Preview. Offering up ridiculously early and ill-informed snap judgments on a whole slate of new network shows. Putting to rest those who say you can’t judge a book by it’s cover – or in this case a TV show by its one paragraph summary and cast photo.

See precocious kid, see hot wife, see the once respected Jay Mohr sell his soul for what we assume is one really big paycheck from CBS.

Oh now I get it. February’s dreadful KNIGHT RIDER movie was simply a brilliant plan on NBC’s part to lower expectations for the show’s phenomenal return this fall! Right?

Okay, we won’t.

Will definitely be watching Pushing Daisies and will probably give PP another shot (wish they would cancel it though and send Addison back to Seattle Grace!)

Not sure about Knight Rider. Thought the tv movie was kinda lame.

  • ‘Kinda lame’

Linda B, what I think you meant to say is ‘lamest movie ever’. That said, I will give it one more episode to see if the creative team learned any lessons from the back-door pilot.

  • bws

I’m on board with Pushing Daisies and D$M for Wednesday nights. My wife was lukewarm about Lipstick so I’m guessing she’ll give that a few more eps.

I’ll watch the “new pilot” of Knight Rider but … it better be a 11/10 if they want me to come back for week 2.

What happened to Medium on NBC Wednesdays at 10? Is it coming back at a different time?

  • Linda B.

    ‘Lamest movie ever’

No, i reserve that title for some of the crap movies Sci-Fi channel produces!

  • Monkey

Tvaddict, are you going to make one of these for Mondays too?

    I’m kinda of pre-mapping out my schedule! I’m a dork, I know!

  • Hil

Just a guess, but Medium might be coming back next January. Wasn’t that when it started up this year?

  • Josh Emerson

    Pushing Daisies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/fanboy]

Daisies and Christine will no doubt be on my fall schedule. Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money are both iffy for me, but I will probably end up giving them another shot. The only other show I might watch on Wed. is Project Gary. The previews looked funny and I’ll be DVRing Christine anyway.

So far, Tuesday and Wednesday, both have ONLY one show I’m looking forward to (Fringe and Pushing Daisies). If Fringe gets canceled, I might not be a “tvaddict” any longer.

Unless I change to a crappytvaddict and start watching Knight Rider.

Great idea for a spin-off site! ‘CrappyTVaddicy – where According to Jim Fans are shown the love!

  • allie

Just curious, what do they shows in grey mean? Are you watching or not?

  • allie,

    great question.

shows in grey are simply shows that are on that I don’t have an opinion on either way. Ie. I know every CBS procedural CSI WITHOUT A TRACE COLD CASE have a lot of fans, but they’re not my cup of tea.

  • Wow. Wednesdays look bleak. There’s about a 50% chance I’ll watch Knight Rider and about a 25% chance I’ll give Private Practice a 2nd try. That’s it.

Last season, Wednesday was full of new shows I was at least willing to try. The night gradually got worse throughout the season, and I see that it’s not going to improve much in the new season.

I might actually read a book on Wednesday nights. 😉

  • Firstly Todd w in NC, A book…. don’t be talkin’ crazy.

Secondly, Have you checked out DIRTY SEXY MONEY? It’s really grew into an entertaining show as the season wore on.

  • Gowan

I’ll be watching Pushing Daisies, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money for sure.

I’m gonna give Knight Rider a second chance. The showrunner had absolutely nothing to do with the TV movie and is responsible for other car-based movies. If they keep it about the car, it might be okay. (Okay, also if the actors take some lessons over the summer, that might help)

  • CC

Pushing Daisies, I’m so excited for it!

  • Naf

ABC has my Wednesday taken up, but Old Christine is also a must watch for me. I’ll check out a few episodes of Project Gary, and I’ll see what people say about Knight Rider before I get into that.

  • shanna

I’m wondering what this Stylista show is about. I’m really only addicted to ANTM but Wednesdays are a TV lite day for me so I might not switch the channel.
