sex and the city movie

The TV Addict is taking an informal poll. Not because he’s really interested, or to justify the fact that he kinda, sort of, *cough*cough* interested in seeing the SEX AND THE CITY movie *cough*…. But just out of curiosity, if you’re a guy and are planning on seeing the continuing adventures of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda [ummm... those are their names right?], it would really help me out if you took a moment to fess up in the comments below. You know, so I don’t feel like the only male TV Addict on the planet who kinda, sort of wants to see this movie. Even though there’s no way I’m going this weekend for fear of being trampled on by millions of screaming women and will probably just wait until it comes out on TMN [Canada's HBO]. A channel that I shell out 20 bucks a month for so that I can essentially watch all the movies that I’m too embarrassed to actually see in theaters. I am very much interested in seeing the movie and not at all ashamed to admit it. I have seen every episode, but like you I don’t think I will see it this weekend and it is hard to find someone to see it with as all my girl friends are having group outings and parties. Oh well.

  • Naf

I’ve only seen one episode of the show, and I wasn’t a too impressed. I am, however, being dragged to the movie tonight. If I like it, I might check out more of the show.

  • theTVaddict

Tonight? I thought the movie opened Friday.

Naf, What mysterious and powerful hookups do you have? And more importantly, why aren’t you sharing!

  • scsc

I know there are previews for invited guests at the Scotiabank Theatre today. Go and crash it.

  • SimplyKimberly

I will raise my hand as the only woman on the planet that does not want to see this movie.

  • Amy

    SimplyKimberly – make that two.

  • theREELaddict

I have to admit I’m a guy and I may check this out. I wasn’t going to because I’ve never seen an episode of the show in my life. But then Mr. TV Addict had to go ahead and propose an interesting experiment. “Wouldn’t it be interesting to see the film cold, without a single shred of familiarity with the show?” The social experimentalist in me was doomed at that point.

So, probably sometime this weekend, I’ll be sitting there in the theatre. Too bad my niece is too young to be cover for this one.

  • theTVaddict

    Hey REEL Addict,

At least your niece is probably still young enough to be cover for you to see WALL•E and KUNG FU PANDA!

  • Mohammad

I think i would watch the movie if I had followed the tv show, I’d be a bit embarrassed but it’s just a movie.

  • shanna

I don’t WANT to see the movie. But I want to go to the movies and alot of my girlfriends want to see it so I’ll end up there. It will happen.

  • shanna

    Oh I’m a girl.

  • tlcinvt

Make that three women who don’t want to see this movie. I never watched an episode of this show, and I have no interest in it at all.

  • Hil

I’m a woman and I won’t be seeing this movie.

  • Alison

I was a huge fan of the show. I am excited to see the movie and will be seeing it friday night. Think of it like your favorite show got cancelled and then someone did a movie to wrap it all up. That’s how I’m taking it. However it plays out.. good or bad… at least it will be the end (hopefully) to the chapters.

  • theREELaddict

My niece is also young enough to help cover me for SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS 2, which I do admit I am going to see in theaters.

  • Jelena

With me we are seven women who don´t want to see it. I could see it tonight, because almost every german cinema shows a preview.

  • GabbyD

i am a guy and am a big fan of the TV show. The show has a neat ‘parable’-like structure tying each episode for its A and B story among the strong and interesting leads. (yeah, thats a nerdy reason for liking a TV show, but bear w me). Initial reviews tho say that the movie is too long at over 2 hours. But i’m still hopeful…

  • SimplyKimberly

I am glad I am not alone in my zero desire to see this movie.

If BSG or Buffy or ANGEL or any myriad of great sci fi tv shows made it to the big screen you couldn’t stop me from wanting to see those movies.

But SATC? No thanks. I still have to see Iron Man though. I love, love, love Robert Downey, Jr. Add the comic book inspiration and Jon Favreau? Oh yeah, this is a must see for me.

  • Linda B.

Iron Man was awesome. Make sure you stay through the ending credits (secret scene).

I was a big fan of SATC when it originally aired on HBO. I was disappointed to hear that they were making a movie as I was happy w/ how they left all the characters (happy). I’m going to see the movie on Friday, but I really hope they didn’t mess everything up.

  • Josh C.

never feel ashamed to see SATC. I am guy who has been a loyal fan for years and owns the nifty pink book of the series. I already have my tickets and will be sipping pink cosmos with some friends before catching the flick

  • Melissa

TVAddict… Take a stand and see the movie!!! Maybe you will empower all the other men that know they want to see it and are too scared to go! Get some popcorn first! It’s 2 hours and 20 minutes… you will probably get hungry!!!

  • Josh Emerson

I have no interest in seeing this movie. I’ve never seen the show. Although that’s not to say I’ve never watched some movies that I’m embarrassed to admit to. I did just watch 27 Dresses recently. lol

  • Jason the TVaholic

I go see a new movie every Friday, so that leaves THE STRANGERS or SEX AND THE CITY as the only options this week. Couldn’t careless about seeing another people chased around by psycho killers movie. SATC is at least TV show related. But, much like the REEL addict, I will be seeing this pretty much cold and for review purposes only. Although, the Friday that TRAVELING PANTS 2 hits theaters, I will most definitely be doing my traveling on the PINEAPPLE EXPRESS or taking a HELL RIDE.

  • Ashlyn

I’m a girl counting down the seconds till i can see the movie, and oddly enough I appear to be in the minority in these comments. Haha.

I imagine there will be many men in the theatre, though most of then will have the cover of looking like they were dragged by someone.

  • TP

I’m female, have been forced to sit through several episodes (i’ve probably seen almost two seasons worth of eps) and have found no interest in either the show, or the movie. Which is unusual for me since I’ll usually watch anything (other than reality TV). But then again, I live in NY and the whole SATC tours around the city annoy me endlessly – so that might be part of it.

Iron Man was amazing… the final post-credits scene rocked. Thankfully I went with someone who knew about it and made me wait!
