Past their sell-by-date? Could you be referring to The Sopranos and Will & Grace…two shows whose mere names on the ballot instantly hypnotized every voter, rendering them incapable of NOT voting for these tired, played-out relics? Emmy voters: Possibly the dumbest of all people in Hollywood, and that’s sayin’ something.

The amazing thing here is that I couldn’t find a single show that I thought didn’t deserve to be on there (maybe shows that deserved it MORE, but not any that didn’t belong). This makes it very different from the emmys, where shows linger on the list well past their sell by date.

Not having Dexters second season (which is made of pure awesomeness) and season 4 of House (with it’s brilliant survivors saga and the incredible double season finale) makes me just not be interested in whatever this list says.

There are a few glaring omissions here (BSG in particular), but to be honest it’s hard to complain too much when someone actually recognises Friday Night Lights for the incredible show it is. How Connie Britton doesn’t have a big handful of awards already is beyond me.

While Battlestar’s snub does sting a little, I don’t feel as bad as previous seasons. That last half of the third season, I think we can somewhat agree, wasn’t that great. It was still Battlestar goodness, just not quite at the level we’ve seen it reach.

Michael Emerson is to acting as Michael Jordan is to basketball. His omission from any best actor list is like saying Jordan shouldn’t be included on an All Star list. He gives one of the most complex, layered performances that has ever graced the small screen.

And BSG is just a silly frakking sci fi show. Who takes that genre seriously? /bitter sarcasm

I’m convinced that the people who vote and make these lists up never actually watch any television.

Glad someone realized the LOL work of Ray Wise on Reaper. He absolutely steals the show with his snark and sarcasm.

Allie….you question LOST’s nominations? Girl, I have to question your sanity. Lost is not only this YEAR’s best drama….it’s the best drama EVER. You’re obviously not a watcher.

Michael Emerson’s omission? Glaring, blatant, unforgivable. I expect more of televison critics. They should know better. He is the single most compelling actor on TV. I believe voters spent too much time watching “Yo Gabba Gabba” and it turned their brains to sludge.

I’m just glad that Friday NIght Lights and Connie Britton got some recognition. Maybe that’ll encourages the Emmys to do the same.
