Buffy's seasons 6 & 7 were not without a few redeeming qualities, but -- just as the pattern would one day repeat with Gilmore Girls -- the final two seasons do not nearly live up to the quality of the first five seasons.

The nerd trio were good as comic relief but made disappointing "faux-big-bads" in most of season six, I hated Buffy & Spike together, Dawn continued to be annoying & useless, the Big Bad in s7 was more build-up than execution, the nature of the potential slayers in s7 was never well explained (how do they know they're potentials, and why didn't Buffy know when she used to be one), and I hated what they did with: Willow in both seasons, Xander & Anya's relationship at the end of s6, and Anya's overly-rushed fate in a split-second scene in the series finale. Ultimately, s6 was still somewhat okay, but most of s7 was dull & uneven.

If I remember correctly, the two best episodes of those two seasons were Tabula Rasa (one of the best episode-ending music montages ever) and Conversations with Dead People -- but the musical Once More With Feeling is over-rated thanks to: a few cringe-worthy songs (only Giles, Tara, and maybe Anya were good singers), making Dawn the cause of the mayhem (again), and ending the episode with a strengthening of the bizarre Buffy & Spike relationship.

To me, the cast was never better than in s3, and the Big Bad, overall story arc, and finale were never better than in s5. It was all downhill from there. I'll go along with Buffy's presence on the top 100 list, but top 10 is a little high for me.

Dear Todd W. in NC:
Buffy has NO poor seasons, dude, zero. Sorry if you didn't like Yr. 6 & 7 as much as the rest, but the only bad thing about those seasons was...the show had moved to UPN from its true home, The WB. 20th Century Fox and Joss Whedon should be utterly ashamed for what they did in mid-stream of a series, which The WB treasured. That said, Buffy is easily one of the Top 5 dramas ever produced, so its ranking as low as #10 on this list is laughable.

How is it that Veronica Mars and Supernatural didn't make it on the list?

My first thought when I read the list was that I was happy to see Buffy so high. I thought Gilmore Girls should have been higher, and I was happy to see Friday Night Lights make the list, as well as Battlestar Galactica. But then I kept searching for Veronica Mars. I thought I overlooked it. But nope, it wasn't included. I think EW is going to hear a lot of complaints. It may not have had a lot of viewers, but honestly? It was one of the best shows of recent years. And no Alias? WTF?

Glaring Omissions (personal picks):
- **Babylon 5**
- Alien Nation
- Boston Legal
- Firefly (probably omitted due to short run)
- Jericho
- Men In Trees
- Mythbusters (entertaining *and* educational)
- Picket Fences
- The Practice
- Quantum Leap
- Scrubs
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
- Stargate: SG-1
- The 4400

Surprising Omissions (good or bad):
- Brothers & Sisters
- Heroes
- Nip/Tuck (to me, only good in 1st season; but it's still popular)
- NYPD Blue
- The O.C.
- Rescue Me
- Sisters
- Ugly Betty

Should Be Higher on the List:
 23. The West WIng
 32. Gilmore Girls (see "Note:" below)
 48. Ally McBeal
 59. Battlestar Galactica
 62. House (should be waay higher)
 77. The Golden Girls

Should Be Lower on the List:
 04. The X-Files
 10. Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (see "Note:" below)
 22. The Real World (one step higher than West Wing? come on!?!)
 38. Beavis & Butthead
 56. Desperate Housewives
 58. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
 66. Grey's Anatomy

Weird Entries:
 50. Baywatch
 26. Chappelle's Show
 55. Pee Wee's Playhouse
 67. Planet Earth (so much for the short run theory)

Note: If Buffy can make to the top 10, despite the horrible seasons 6 & 7; then Gilmore Girls might as well be higher on the list too, despite its horrible seasons 6 & 7.

Yeah, "The Hills" -- because people are gonna remember THAT in five years.

Shame about Alias. The work by J.J, Jen, Michael and SpyDaddy would have been recognized.

Survivor is a better show than Friends or Lost? What?? That's ridiculous. It's almost as bad as The Hills appearing on the list.

This list is off in so many ways. You're right that Veronica Mars, Dexter, and Scrubs should be on there.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only who was shocked by the omission of Alias from the list. And Veronica Mars deserved a place, too. I'm midway through re-watching Season 2 and it continues to re-amaze me.

How could they leave off Veronica Mars, yet put things like Jackass and The HIlls in there??

I guess I should just be glad Friday Night Lights was recognized for once.
