Since GOSSIP GIRL has already cornered the market on “OMFG!,” this TV Addict is going to reach waaayyyy back into the early 90’s and borrow a line from BLOSSOM’s Joey Lawrence by proclaiming, “WHOA!” Only in Hollywood 90210 could Kelly Taylor look better today than she did ten years ago.

Is anyone else a big enough TV Addict to admit that they too totally missed EVERWOOD alum Sarah Drew’s guest spot as Art Director Sal Romano’s beard wife on Sunday’s second season premiere of MAD MEN?
Thanks to The Watcher for the Tip!
Shirley Manson Talks TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
Shirley Manson, pictured second from the left.
Following Saturday’s TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES panel at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con, the TV Addict [alongside a few other fellow media types] were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to interview some of the cast and creative team from the show.
First up, Shirley Manson, who joins the cast this season as Catherine Weaver. A high-powered CEO of a major technology company that we’re pretty sure has something to do with the rise of the machines and that little future war Sarah Connor and Co. seem so intent on stopping.
The first question, a no-brainer. How on earth does the lead singer of GARBAGE end up on TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES?
Shirley Manson: While I wasn’t looking to officially get into acting, it’s something I have always wanted to do. Then one day, Josh Friedman [TERMINATOR’S Executive Producer] called me up and asked if I’d be interested in auditioning for the show. I got the part before I understood the full implications of what I had gotten myself into! I feel very fortunate though, because this role came at a really great time in my life, when I really felt that I needed to shake things up.
What can you tell us about the character you’re playing.
Her name is Catherine Weaver and she’s the CEO of a corporation that develops certain technologies. She’s very self-empowered, assured, singular. It’s a very cool character to play.
Should fans expect any Sarah Connor/Catherine Weaver girl fights?
Not that I know of, unless you know something I don’t. They send you the scripts in little installments, so really, I have no idea where the arc of the character goes at all. Which is very exciting I think.
TV Addict Interview: BURN NOTICE Showrunner Jeff Freilich
By: Amrie Cunningham [My Take on TV]
In the fifth of our series of interviews with the cast and creative team of BURN NOTICE, theTVaddict.com proudly presents a Q&A with the Executive Producer Jeff Freilich — who was kind enough to spend time with theTVaddict.com Senior Editor Amrie Cunningham [as well as numerous other media outlets] on a recent visit to the set.
Can you say your name for the tape?
Gabrielle Anwar.
[Everyone laughs]
We have the most remarkable hair and makeup department. Most people don’t recognize me on South Beach. It’s amazing, because in front of camera, I wear a Triple 0 and off camera I’m a 34 waist. The people in Miami just can work magic! So Jeff Freilich.
It is pretty amazing when you walk around this set and see what’s involved and all the people involved. Do you ever just take a moment and say “yeah, I put all this together” and how difficult is it to put all this together?
I only say that when there’s no blame attached. Miami really hasn’t seen a television series of this kind of scope since the days of Miami Vice. The only other show that stayed in Miami before this, between Miami Vice days and now was South Beach, which was a short-lived series. A lot of shows come here to shoot just to get beauty shots. Dexter shot its pilot here. They shot a few more episodes and then they moved to Los Angeles. CSI: Miami shot part of a season here. They come here a couple of times a year to pick up the look of Miami. That’s something that we can’t afford to do. We’re on a different budget than these shows. One of the disadvantages of shooting a show for cable television is that you’re working on budget that’s no more than 60% of the budget of a standard prime time network television show, so you have to be a little bit more creative in the way that you spend your money. We couldn’t afford to shoot in Los Angeles and come to Miami three times a year to get shots of Ocean Drive and the Brickell area. If you’re going to dive into Miami, we had to dive in with both feet. And the problem was that we also had to start shooting last season and this season right at the head of hurricane season. Ideally, if there had been no Writer’s Guild strike, we would have been starting to shoot at the end of January and we would have wrapped in June. We would have had much different weather. We would have had probably more consistent sunshine with lower temperatures which is much more conducive to doing this ambitious a series in only 7 days per episode. People just tend to get slow in the summer. It’s not because the crew isn’t really wonderful. It’s because you die, you kill yourself to get too much work done. Plus we also run the risk of heavy rain and other things which is why most of the series don’t shoot in Miami.

Ask the Addict: Comic Con Edition
Seriously TV Addict, What the Frak! Two weeks and no column. To paraphrase the immortal Ricky Ricardo, “You got some ‘splainin’ to do” — Jen
The TV Addict: Jen, I do have some ‘splainin’ to do, so I’ll get right to it. This TV Addict braved a freezing cold San Francisco [isn’t California supposed to be hotter than Canada?], rafted down the Kern River and braved 120,000 plus Comic Con attendees to bring you the latest scoop on some of your favorite TV shows. So let’s get to it shall we.
Any scoop on the new season of HEROES? — SylarsArmyMember32
The TV Addict: This just in, the TV Addict is an idiot! Why? Because I chose to sleep in and skip the HEROES panel thinking last year’s lackluster WGA-strike shortened season wasn’t worth waking up for. Boy was I wrong.
Hoping to spread the word that HEROES: VILLAINS Edition is back and better [or is it badder?] than ever. Producer Tim Kring and Co. screened the complete third season premiere. Revealing to the 6,000-plus crowd that [spoiler alert!] Sylar will rip open Claire’s head to steal her healing abilities, “Future” Peter will shoot Nathan before he reveals everybody’s secret powers to the world. While Mohinder will finally get a super-power of his own and Hiro will disobey his dead father’s orders by opening up the safe that holds a formula that could destroy the world.
Any chance Rachel Bilson will be returning to CHUCK this season — NerdLover23
The TV Addict: While scheduling conflicts are currently keeping television’s most adorable sandwich maker away from television’s most adorable nerd. CHUCK co-creator Josh Schwartz wouldn’t rule out another appearance by Bilson’s Lou, revealing to the audience during Saturday’s CHUCK Comic Con panel that, “I’m pretty sure the sandwich shop is still there.”
And while we’re on the subject of guest stars, fans can expect hilarious and heartwarming appearances by Tony Hale, Jordana Brewster, Nicole Richie, Michael Clarke Duncan, Jhn Larrouette, Ben Savage, NY Giants Michael Strahan and OC alum Melinda Clark.
Is there any truth to the rumour that DEXTER’s Julie Benz will be turning up in Joss Whedon’s new series DOLLHOUSE? — Brad
The TV Addict: Yes. And not just because Julie Benz asked us to start an internet rumor that she’s been offered an upcoming guest spot on Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE.
Spotlight on DEXTER Star Michael C. Hall
At the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour, DEXTER star Michael C. Hall was kind enough to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to discuss the upcoming third season of Showtime’s critically acclaimed thriller DEXTER.
On the books: “I read the first book as the first season was based on it. But I haven’t read subsequent books because seasons two and three have all been based on what the writers have been able to come up with.”
On portraying America’s favorite serial killer: “I was making a joke earlier [at the DEXTER TCA Panel], but I must say that certain members of my family seem to be more comfortable with me simulating serial murder than simulating a gay relationship with a black man [on SIX FEET UNDER].”
Jenny’s TV Guide: Tuesday July 29
Tuesday marks the season finale of Celebrity Family Feud on NBC at 8/7c. It features Corbin Bernsen (from Psych) and family vs Margaret Cho and family & the American Chopper family vs Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry.
Tonight is also the series premiere of Jurassic Fight Club on the History Channel at 9/8c. Groundbreaking forensic evidence leads to breakthrough discoveries in understanding how dinosaurs battled for supremacy. The show brings the history of dinosaurs and their epic encounters to life like never before seen with astonishing CGI, illustrating the characteristics that made some the hunters and others the game.
Following that is the series premiere of Evolve at 10/9c. It is a riveting look at the history of the key innovations that have driven nature’s evolutionary path from the dawn of life to today.
Gift Ideas For the TV Addict In Your Life
The only question with regards to this just discovered Limited Edition BEVERLY HILLS 90210 iPod isn’t whether or not this TV Addict wants one, umm… because I totally do! Rather, does the Nano come pre-installed with the best of Color Me Badd, ‘Losing My Religion’ [also known as Brenda’s break-up song] and Brian Austin Green’s ‘One Stop Carnival’. Here’s hoping!
