Tonight’s Olympic coverage features the men’s springboard diving final and the men’s 200m breaststroke final that features gold medal favorite Kosuke Kitajima of Japan and American medal contender Eric Shanteau, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer prior to the Beijing Games. Also, races for gold in the women’s 200m fly and men’s 100m free. In late-night coverage (starting at 11/10c), the Americans, Natalie Coughlin and Katie Hoff, who set the world record in the women’s 4x200m free relay at the 2007 World Championships will swim for Olympic gold in the event. In gymnastics, the men’s individual all-around title is decided. China’s Yang Wei, the two-time world champion, is favored – especially after 2004 gold medalist Paul Hamm of the U.S. withdrew because of injury.
