Like many others, I found season 6 (while still vastly superior to pretty much anything else on network tv) was a lowpoint for the series... not that the storylines were BAD, they just weren't fresh (ohh.. Jack's storming an embassy.. again?) Everything I've heard for season 7 and the prequel is good tho (including shutting down production - they're ahead of schedule so they can afford to tweak the scripts, its good news ppl), and I remain a Bauer-fanatic, so consider me primed and waiting for Nov 23.... Looks great.
