Tonight’s TV Addictions: January 9, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
LIPSTICK JUNGLE (9PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
Yes, this show is still on and Yes, we watch it. Deal with it.

FLASHPOINT (9PM CBS, CTV in Canada)
The team deals with a most unusual situation when a kidnapper makes off with a billionaire’s wife. Seems the kidnapper doesn’t want money… he wants a confession. My confession: I’m just not that into this show. BUT have decided to tune in tonight thanks to guest starring turns by Wendy Crewson (AIR FORCE ONE) and Colm Feore (24)

NEW & NOTABLE:
HOWIE DO IT (8PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Before tuning into this prankfest, ask yourself a very important question: “Do I really need more Howie Mandell in my life? If the answer is yes, well… I’m sorry.

WIFE SWAP (8PM ABC)
This new outing should be a rollickin’ good time as a roller derby mom switches places with a woman who pushes her children to enter beauty pageants. Who can resist that combo?

GHOST WHISPERER (8PM CBS, CTV in Canada)
Naysayers who fear DOLLHOUSE is doomed to fail because of its Friday night slot might take note of this hit, which also stars a hot chick with brunette hair. Tonight, Delia (Camryn Manheim) deals with her first full-on haunting.

SUPERNANNY (9PM ABC)
Here’s what I don’t get: At this point, hasn’t Jo — aka Supernanny — taught us pretty much everything she possibly could? I mean, they aren’t, like, inventing new ways for kids to act up, right? So does that mean folks who watch this are just sadists who love seeing kids act out?

MY BIG REDNECK WEEKEND (9PM CMT)
A house-warming party at which the featured activity is bellyflopping into a mud pit. Hosted by — who else? — Tom Arnold.

STARGATE ATLANTIS (9PM SCI FI)
In the series finale, the crew deals with a hive ship that poses a major threat to Earth. Call us crazy, but we’re betting the good guys will win. Although how cool would it be if the series ended by, like, blowing up the planet?

NUMB3RS (10PM CBS)
Don’s found religion, and just in time. Why? ‘Cause he may need a little heavenly intervention when a killer he sent away escapes!

GET A ROOM! (10:30PM E!)
Who else but E! would bring us a special filled with what are billed as “the 10 most inappropriate make-out moments.”

DAYS OF OUR LIVES (11PM SOAPnet)
Under hypnosis, John remembers a moment true soap fans will never forget: When he and a supposedly-dead Marlena were reunited on a mist-shrouded pier all those years ago. You know, back when soaps were great.

For all the latest TV news and reviews

  • Alyssa

I’m going to pretend that you meant to put the Grey’s description under Ghost Whisperer. Because it amuses me.

  • Alyssa,

I didn’t! But isn’t it funny (or sad) how it kind of works!

  • Sniff! Going to miss Stargate Atlantis…looking forward to made-for-TV movie either later this year or early next year on the SciFi Channel!

  • Darla

I will stop watching TV tonight with the ending of the greatest show ever aired…STARGATE ATLANTIS.

  • Darla,

Fair enough, but what are you going to do when STARGATE UNIVERSE premieres?

  • Spenda

I am so sad that Atlantis is ending!
    I loved the show.
(but really have no interest in SGU, I was a fan of Atlantis, not necessarily the franchise – if they did a spin off of the show with the Vegas episode’s reality, then I’d watch!)
