Tonight’s TV Addictions: January 20, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
AMERICAN IDOL (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
The auditions move to San Francisco. Different city, same Simon.

90210 (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Much to the surprise of Sharpay and Ryan Annie and Ethan, Troy Ty auditions for the new school play. And much to our surprise, this is what it’s come to… plot lines “inspired” by HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. Awkward.

FRINGE (9PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Murder, a formal review of the Fringe Division and a visit from her sister keep Olivia busy this week. More importantly, the show will no-doubt get a major ratings boost thanks to this post-IDOL slot.

PRIVILEGED (9PM CW, CityTV in Canada)
When did Pete Wentz become the CW’s bitch? First, there was that whole “Pete and Peyton” thing on ONE TREE HILL, now a photo of Pete with Rose stirs up all kinds of trouble between the beauty and her boyfriend. I guess a (Fallout) boy’s gotta do what a (Fallout) boy’s gotta do to sell records these days.

NEW & NOTABLE:
NEIGHBORHOOD BALL: AN INAUGURATION CELEBRATION (8PM ABC)
Whether you’re celebrating the beginning of Obama’s presidency or the end of Bush’s, it’s time to party like… um, like it’s the last day of Bush’s presidency.

THE O’REILLY FACTOR (8PM FOX News)
Come on. Who doesn’t wanna see how Bill-O handles the fact that with Obama in the White House, life as the pugnacious commentator knows it is coming to an end?

BIGGEST LOSER (8PM NBC, E! in Canada)
Come on. Who doesn’t wanna see how Bill-O handles the fact that with Obama in the White House, life as the pugnacious commentator knows it is coming to an end?

CHANGE AND CHALLENGE: THE INAUGURATION OF BARACK OBAMA (9PM CBS)
Katie Couric examines the presidential campaign and how the civil rights movement will forever be impacted by the outcome.

For all the latest TV news and reviews

  • You know I’ve been watching the Inauguration coverage and I have to give it to Bush. Although his presidency has sucked (and we all know it has) most of the media hasn’t really called him on it (like they should have) and then today they’re all shitting on him. Not that he doesn’t deserve it but I find it hypocritical that the media let him get away with the majority of his ridiculousness for the majority of 2 terms and now all of a sudden they’re talking about how horrible it is.

That aside. Can’t wait for Fringe and Privileged. I wish House was still on tonight, or at least not conflict with HIMYM, BBT and GG.
