It has one of the best actors on the planet, subtlety, of plot, and interesting character relationships. It does not suck. Maybe Lost is brilliant, but if a show can't be appreciated in a stand alone format, it usually has more to do with lazy writing, than some tethering you along to revelation high concept. The best X-Files episodes were the ones you could watch as brilliant singles, not those tedious, arbitrarily wrought history summing up boring ones. TV is ephemeral, and having to be glued to it to "find out what it all means" is kind of unhealthy, like watching Soaps. There is far too much material posing as great art, that is a bloated, overextended, disguised form of Opium for the masses. "Lie to Me" is clever, fun, and interesting, and it ENDS. It's not good. It's a -been-there-done-that- show. The Mentalist is ten times better. If Lie to Me had have come out first maybe it would have been ok, but now it's coming out after all of these other crime dramas it seems like a copycat, plus it's on fox, notorious for cancelling things early, we'll see but i don't see it lasting.
