I completely agree. Especially when you factor in the GOSSIP GIRL undoubtedly costs far more to produce than ABC Family fare.

I still think it’s hilarious that ABC Family’s Secret Life of the American Teenager kills every single show on the CW. It’s especially juicy when you look at it airing directly opposite Gossip Girl, the CW’s supposed flagship show. Good job Dawn Ostroff!

Nick — I made pretty much this same statement a few weeks ago when GG/90210 were renewed and Reaper/Privileged were completely glossed over like it was a foregone conclusion that they would (and apparently to them, should) be cancelled. Yet their numbers were just as strong or stronger. Darn tweens and their downloading episodes making the CW think GG is better.

Can I just point out that REAPER notched a 2.5-rating, which is a full rating point higher than the 1.5 that GOSSIP GIRL drew for a *new* episode the previous evening.

Yes, Obama may have “mentioned” the phrase “Gossip Girl” in a recent town hall meeting, but REAPER clearly fared better with the Prez head-to-head. Just wondering: Dawn, is it really wise to sink every last dime of The CW’s budget, time and energy into a show that people (sshhhh) are really not watching? Just imagine what Reaper, for example, would’ve done last night with as big a marketing push as Ostroff has given GG and 90210.

The network’s notion of putting all their eggs in the basket of fickle young girls is FLAWED THINKING and will lead to destruction. Why can’t the execs comprehend that simple fact?
