Because as it would turn out, TiVoing Passover wasn’t a viable option and my family didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye with my belief that NBC’s “Must See TV” was important enough to skip the second Seder, this TV Addict is once again passing the buck to you — my far smarter and better looking readers — to post away with your thoughts on last night’s installments of THE OFFICE (x2), PARKS AND RECREATION, SOUTHLAND and HARPER’s ISLAND.

  • Nick

I thought PARKS AND RECREATION was hilarious. Just the type of comedy tone I love….Amy as “obliviously stupid and enthusiastic.”

    4 stars.

  • Kathy

Southland is a keeper, very intertaining..
Harper’s Island truly keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is as good as any movie thriller.

  • bws

I’m DVR’ing Harper’s Island. I think I need some escapism fun with a dash of murrrrrder.

Park and Rec was solid, albeit a wee bit too close to The Office stylistically. That’s to be expected given its pedigree, however. They’re only doing 6 episodes (filming #5 right now, I believe) and I’m sure it will get a few tweaks before they’d bring it back in the fall. Infinitely better than Kath & Kim, right? In the end, it was funny. That’s all I want. Flesh out the characters a little more and I might be laughing even more.

  • Cat

I thought Harper’s Island was pretty good. I didn’t miss Seder either!

  • Josh C.

I cant lie. I did not think parks and rec was funny. I’m not a fan of the office to begin with so that probably added to it. Harpers though was actually fairly interesting. Its like one of those murder mystery games where people dress up as characters. I’ll keep tuning in.

  • Luvdeep

    I loved them ALL!

Parks and Recreation….Nice change from the office which I have been sick of recently. Especially loved Aziz Ansari…he’s my new crush! And of course Amy Poehler was hilarious!

Southland…Pretty good, missed Ben from the OC and its good to have him back. However, this show probably gonna be very procedural which I hate so I probably won’t end up watching this when all my thursday show’s come back..but i really did enjoy it, so I’ll just wait and see! I love the CAST!

Harper’s Island….soo interesting! I wasn’t even gonna watch it but gave it chance and it was pretty interesting. I like knowing that the mystery will be solved in 13 episodes. And it’s great to see “henry” from UB in a role where he is not acting like a nerd! (I didn’t think he had it in him 🙂 )

  • The office- stupid
Parks and recreation – nevcer watch will never watch
Southland – for 8 to 11 year olds only
Harpers island – a waste of money

  • godzookie

I couldn’t make it through Parks @ Rec, which was a big disappointment because I like Amy and wanted to like her show. The Office was great the new storyline of Michael starting his own paper company has a lot of potential.

  • Nick

    James: So how’s life?

  • bws

Yeah, if you don’t like the Office, you will not like Park and Rec. No way, no how. Not your brand of comedy. Your brand of comedy may be more like 2.5 Men. I chuckled out loud a few times at Park and Rec, and I don’t laugh at much. Aziz is perfect. More of him will always be good.

I think the Office has had an off year, which is sad, because EVERY show should have come back stronger this year after the strike.

  • Ace

Haha, Nick…that was snarky and I like it.

Anywho, I kind of agree with bws about The Office. Something is just off on the Office right now and I can’t put my finger on what it is.

I DVRed Parks & Rec. and Southland, so I”m looking forward to watching those soon. I really like Aziz Ansari, so I have high hopes for P&R. I’m not sur ethat Southland will be my cup of tea, but my group of friends were really into the OC when it first started (ahh college) so I wanted to see how Ben was doing.

  • Phil

Southland is edgy. The characters are almost believable, with real life issues and conflicts. The question is, can america stomach another cop show. Interest in cop shows is waning. I think interest in this show might be beaten down by the sheer number of crime shows on television, and I fear all of these tired themes might go the way of the old western. Maybe what we need now is a show about plumbers dealing with badly clogged drains, and emergency back ups. I’d watch!! “Quick, I need the big pipe wrench… stat”!

  • rocco

Didn’t watch OFFICE, PARKLAND, nor P&R. SOUTHLAND is not going to make it. A rip-off on THIRD WATCH, HILL STREET BLUES & an old one, POLICE STORY. This is a poor rip off. Cut your loses and can it now.

  • Parks and Recreation shows a lot of promise. If they get rid of the mockumentary approach, it would open up the show a lot more beyond a show made by the same people who made The Office. P&S is a different show, and it would be a shame for the producers to ignore that. I’ll keep watching though, because I think it can turn itself around by season’s end like The Office and 30 Rock did.

  • jill

I don’t laugh out loud a lot, so when P&R got a few out of me, I thought, okay, not bad, not bad. But bws said it all, and better than I can at this moment, so I will leave it at that.

  • Josh C.

wow bws just because i dont like the office doesnt mean im stupid or low brow enough to enjoy 2.5 men. but thanks for the boost of confidence haha

  • dj

Southland looks good, I could follow some of the show for the most part (we were under severe weather tornado warnings for the whole show, midwest you know) I think it will be an interesting look into our police forces.
Hopefully it will bring attention to the women and men who serve us, and give us a little “light” into the personal struggles of thier profession’s.

  • Peg

I didn’t watch P&R. Southland was okay I will give it a chance and see. Harpers Island got off to a great start and I am excited about it!

  • Matt P

Watched Park and Rec enjoy all the cast except Amy Poehler. I really hated Amy Poehler’s character, so won’t be watching the show again.

  • Kristen

I watched Southland because 1) it looked good and 2) Ben Mackenzie. While I thought Ben did a great job, I won’t be coming back next week. It just didn’t hold my interest. Although, I do think it would have been a different story if it were on FX. Obviously, that’s the style the creators were going for and with The Shield gone, it easily could have filled the cop show void.

  • JE

Took off Third watch! and put on Southland? comeon!!!

  • only watched Southland, (severe storms don’t you know), and it had a unique Director approach….almost hand held camera…rapid action, movement and never a dull second. 4 1/2 Stars.
