Are you ready for that 80’s show GOSSIP GIRL style? The CW certainly hopes so. Because courtesy of a Lily Van der Woodsen flashback, the 80’s will be the decade everybody will be, well, gossiping about. With the May 11th episode of GOSSIP GIRL (titled, “Valley Girls”) serving as a backdoor pilot for a Lily Rhodes spinoff by introducing us to 17-year-old Lily Rhodes (Brittany Snow) who gets kicked out of boarding school and runs away to Los Angeles, only to reconnect with her parents, Rick (Andrew McCarthy), Cece (Cynthia Watros) and sister Carol (Krysten Ritter). More pictures after the jump.

Good News, Bad News: SCRUBS, CHUCK & THE HILLS
Good News: Talks are said to be heating up between Bill Lawrence and ABC to bring back SCRUBS for a ninth season. Bad News: It remains to be seen if Sacred Heart will be able to withstand only occasional visits by commitment phobic Zach Braff and co-stars John C McGinley, Donald Faison and Neil Flynn who have already committed to new high profile pilots currently in development. [Source]
Good News: Lauren Conrad has finally made good on her promise to exit THE HILLS. Bad News: Which means expect even more screen time for media whores Heidi and Spencer when season five returns in the fall. [Source]
Good News: CHUCK creator Josh Schwartz tells TVGuide.com that the “#savechuck campaign that started on the blogs and with the critics and with the fans, on Facebook and Twitter has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life to witness.” Bad New: An awesome campaign didn’t exactly translate into a bump in the ratings, with there being almost no discernible difference between CHUCK’s numbers week-to-week. Tonight’s TV Addictions: April 28, 2009
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
AMERICAN IDOL (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
The remaining five interpret songs popularized by the Rat Pack.
FRINGE (8PM CBS, Global in Canada)
Now far be it from us to tell Olivia, Peter and Walter how to do their job, but maybe after they look into tonight’s serial-killer-of-the-week they wouldn’t mind taking a look at this whole swine flu thing. We’re just sayin’
90210 (9PM CW, Global in Canada)
And the #1 sign May sweeps has begun: Naomi’s never before discussed big sis surprises everyone by returning to town.
NEW & NOTABLE:
NCIS (8PM CBS, Global in Canada)
Because it’s never too early for a little fall TV preview, Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J drop by NCIS giving us an early look at next fall’s NCIS spinoff which takes place in the NCIS Office of Special Projects in Los Angeles.
Why Does Nobody Ever Really Die on HEROES? Discuss:
As it turns out, Bryan Fuller’s assessment that last night’s season finale of HEROES was “the best finale the show has ever had,” lived up to the hype. Too bad as season finales go, HEREOS doesn’t have much of a track record to live up to.
Sure, as promised by Cristine Rose (Angela Petrelli), a hero who had been with the show from day one die did in fact die. The only problem being, nobody on HEROES really ever stays dead. Leaving this TV Addict to wonder just how long it will take for Matt Parkman’s mojo to wear off, forcing The Company to resurrect the original Sylar (with the help of the spare shapeshifter that HRG already alluded to down in Building 26) in an effort to bring down Nathan Petrelli. Who it seems is already letting his inner-Sylar get the better of him.
Our guess, November sweeps! What’s yours?

CHUCK Season Finale: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
The Good: Like all great season finales, last night’s CHUCK capper managed to give every character a moment in the spotlight. (1) Morgan got to do his best to help save the day as an, “unofficial member of the wedding party.” (2) Jeffster! rocked the house and in doing so managed to cleverly cover up a Chuck vs. Fulcrum showdown in the adjacent banquet hall. (3) Ryan McPartlin’s delivered a… [wait for it]… awesome reaction upon learning the wedding was delayed due to Chuck being MIA. (4) Ellie tried to calm her nerves with Yoga, and then later in the tub with a bottle of champagne. (5) Casey got to play wedding planner and demonstrated his true loyalty to Chuck by giving him his digits with the one caveat being that in true Casey fashion, “your fingers better be on fire when you’re dialing.” (6) Sarah choose Chuck over Bryce! (7) And of course, our titular hero realized that he is in fact the one a hero… and oh yeah, that he knows Kung Fu! Which brings us to…
The Bad: Which is not so much of a ‘bad’ as a concern. Because as uber-critic Alan Sepinwall so correctly pointed out, “[Josh] Schwartz and [Chris] Fedak have enough credit banked that I’m going to assume they know what they’re doing in fundamentally altering the main character in this way.” That said, one of the big appeals of both CHUCK the show and the character has always been that our favorite nerd-herder was a seemingly average guy thrown into an extraordinary situation (think: HEROES, before it went downhill!) And that as ridiculous as his surrounding seemed to get, Chuck almost always remained the sane and one we could relate to. That is until last night’s jaw-dropper of an ending that had Chuck download the new and improved Intersect Version 2.0 into his head giving him the ability to kick some serious bad guy butt. Begging the question, how exactly will this affect the show going forward? Which of course, brings us to…
Question of the Day
Now as regular readers of theTVaddict.com know all too well, this web site is completely 100% TV focused and almost never interrupts your regularly scheduled TV news, reviews and interviews for anything outside of the occasional shameless photograph of your very own TV Addict with [insert your favorite celebrity here!]
That said, I’ve been thinking about this questions since @brianstelter tweeted the news that “For the first time, a broadcaster is refusing Obama’s request for airtime. Per AP, FIX says it’ll air LIE TO ME on Wed, not press conference” and have decided to throw caution to the wind by posing this question: If President Bush were still in office, would FOX have dared to risk the wrath of their corporate overlords by not airing a Presidential press conference?
Tonight’s TV Addictions: April 27, 2009
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS, CTV in Canada)
Just how funny is tonight’s installment of THE BIG BANG THEORY which this TV Addict had the pleasure of seeing at Paley Fest ’09? Here’s all you need to know: Hookers! Hotels! and Howard (Wolowitz)
CHUCK (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
In the season 2 finale, yes NBC, you heard us correctly — SEASON finale — Chuck must spring into action on Ellie and Awesome’s wedding day to save his sister from evil Fulcrum forces and Steve Jobs wannabe Ted Roark (Chevy Chase).
GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) returns. Her mission: To liven up tonight’s been-there-done-that rivalry between Chuck and Nate for Blair’s affection.
HEROES (9PM NBC, 10PM Global in Canada)
It’s Nathan versus Sylar in this third season finale and we have a feeling that unlike season one, a parking meter isn’t gonna do Sylar in (or at least we hope it won’t.)
Chuck Bartowski: This Sub is for You!
The TV Addict devours his Pizza Sub, Thanks Subway!
Even though we had a sneaking suspicion that star Zachary Levi would not personally be preparing our foot long Pizza sub, as he did for 400 or so of his closest friends over the weekend, this TV Addict didn’t want to miss out on one final opportunity to show the proverbial powers that be at NBC, and more importantly potential advertisers (like Subway’s chief marketing officer Mr. Tony Pace) just how much a third season renewal for CHUCK means to fans of quality television everywhere.
