Amidst the madness that was May’s season finales and the recent Network UpFronts, one of the things that unfortunately got lost in the shuffle was our recent visit to the set of GREEK. Which is why we’d like to take the opportunity to share with you today five things you probably didn’t know about everybody’s favorite Frat brother Scott Michael Foster, who plays Cappie on the hit ABC Family series GREEK.

1) He almost didn’t enroll at Cyprus Rhodes University.
As hard as it is to imagine Kappa Tau without everybody’s favorite grand puba Cappie, actor Scott Michael Foster almost didn’t enroll. “Honestly, when I was testing for the show [GREEK] I was testing for another pilot on MTV that obviously didn’t go anywhere.” explains Foster about the path not taken. “I was talking to my agent because I wanted to make sure I had at least one job. But at the same time I wanted it to be the right one and in the end I said, ‘Let’s just hold off and wait for the GREEK offer’ which came in and I have to say I’m so glad.”

2) His infatuation with special guest star Janeane Garofalo, not acting.
Yes it’s true. This TV Addict isn’t the only one obsessed with Janeane Garofalo, who recently dropped by Cyprus Rhodes University to play Cappie and Cassie’s Women’s Studies Professor.” She was awesome and a pleasure to work with,” exclaims Foster. “What was great about her was that she treated everyone like professionals. There was no weird guest star awkwardness. She came in, was herself and everybody loved it.”

3) Cappie and Rusty’s bromance, acting.
Although Foster is quick to point out that, “everyone gets along super well on set,” off set when given the chance, Foster is more likely to be playing pool and hanging out with co-stars Aaron Hill (Beaver), Paul James (Calvin) and Jake McDorman (Evan Chambers) than Jacob Zachar (Rusty), who according to Foster “kind of keeps to himself.”

4) The big break that didn’t happen.
Revealed Foster on a guest starring role that wasn’t, “They offered me a role on 30 ROCK but I couldn’t do it because of my schedule on GREEK. So I was really bummed about that, hopefully they’ll phone again.” Or as Liz Lemon might put it, “Blerg!”

5) Music is his passion.
Even though a role on 30 ROCK didn’t work out, should GLEE come calling, Foster is ready, “I started out with music and choir long before I even considered acting. It’s my passion, I formed a band a few years back, it’s sort of something fun for me to do. We play shows every once in a while, you can check us out on myspace/sirenseye.

GREEK airs Mondays at 8PM on ABC Family

  • Cappie is easily one of the best characters on television. I would love to see Foster get a spot on 30 Rock.

  • John K.

You met Cappie? I am super jealous. Did you ask him about quarterlife? I’m guessing the 30 Rock role was as Jamie, who Frank famously went gay for.

  • John K.

That is hilarious that we’re thinking the exact same thing with regards to his 30 ROCK role! Embarrassingly enough, I didn’t follow up as I had limited time to talk to him but I can tell you that he briefly mentioned QUARTERLIFE. It was one of his first gigs and he really enjoyed it.

  • Aiden

Wow, you’re right I did not know those things. Well I got 1/4 so it’s not that bad. I think I was most excited about the 30 Rock appearance thing! That would have been hilarious if he played Jamie.

I would really love to see Scott on more shows. This guy needs more exposure! He joined my favorite batch of newly-discovered, astronomically talented guys on TV, including Zach Levi (Chuck), Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), and Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies).
