Tonight’s TV Addictions: June 10, 2009

Since the major networks have all but given up on attracting eyeballs between the months of June and August (see: tonight’s schedule which includes back-to-back episodes of WIPEOUT, 2-hours of I’M A CELEBRITY… GET ME OUT OF HERE and a slew of repeats on the CW and CBS), this TV Addict is left with little choice but to head on over to my local multiplex to enjoy former small screen star, current ‘next big thing’ Will Tippen Bradley Cooper in THE HANGOVER.

Which is why, earlier today via twitter I put out a call for what you’re watching tonight and why. Here’s what you had to say:

Says @laurahvogel: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (8PM on FOX, CTV in Canada) Top 20 Kickoff tonite obvi! Cat Deely’s crazy outfits, Mary Murphy screaming, lots of pointed toes!

Says @RakedReviews: THE UNUSUALS (10PM on ABC) because it’s awesome, and it’s only got two more episodes left! *sniff*

Says @indybyteman: THE DUEL 2: REAL WORLD ROAD RULES CHALLENGE (9PM MTV). Like a car wreck I cannot turn away. My guilty pleasure.

Says @BigBlueSteve: Back-to-back episodes of WIPEOUT!! (8PM ABC) Because injury and humiliation are funny!!

Says @orangecountygal: One show I’ll be watching is TOP CHEF MASTERS (10PM Bravo). Top Chef is one of the better reality shows.

You will LOVE The Hangover. My husband and I saw it this weekend and loved it.

I’ll be watching SYTYCD…it is my guilty pleasure.

And the networks wonder why they are losing viewers. . . even a summer schedule of ‘something’ is better than the ‘nothing’ that is network tv. Seriously, no wonder cable does so well w/ their offerings. What if even one night of decent programming a week? lol what if ‘desperate housewives’ ran new eps in the summer? What about 90210? Now that show needs a boost. I quit watching it ! But even that would be something this summer! Just saying. Thanks for saying it TV Addict, the networks have given up. Just look at jay leno in the fall. LOL

I’ve been catching up on movies I didn’t get a chance to see earlier on my premium movie channels. Night before last was Once, and last night was 21.

Linda B. — How was Once? I keep meaning to rent that b/c I love the song “Falling Slowly”, but haven’t gotten around to it!

I guess the days of good summer TV like The 4400, Last Comic Standing, Who Wants to Be a Superhero, and other stuff on Sci-Fi Channel are over.

About the only show with new episodes is Rescue Me, and this season is tempting me to cancel my season pass of it on TiVo. At least Kings starts back up this weekend.

Rather than channel surf, I opted for three classic episodes of Picket Fences on Hulu last night, and tonight I have tentative plans to view a couple season 1 episodes of Lost on DVD as part of Project Rewatch.
