In a backstage twist more shocking than anything playing out on screen these days, the folks over at SOAPnet.com confirmed this morning that GENERAL HOSPITAL has fired Greg Vaughan and rehired Jonathan Jackson in the iconic role of Lucky Spencer. Fans of the soap will remember that for years, Lucky and Liz were one of that soap’s most beloved pairs. But when Jackson left, the role was recast (first with Jacob Young, currently ALL MY CHILDREN’s cancer-stricken JR) and then Vaughan, who has played the part since 2003. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out on screen seeing as Lucky just got engaged to his beloved Liz… who happens to be schtupping his brother, Nikolas, behind his back. More than a few fans expect Elizabeth’s tasteless tryst to result in her getting pregnant, which would put Lucky in the position of yet again raising another man’s child (she let him believe for ages that he was the father of a child sired by hitman Jason). More importantly, HOSPITAL has become a notoriously dark and vioence-ridden show where good guys are pretty much given nothing to do, which is one of the reasons Lucky has become such a walked-on wuss. Bringing Jackson back into the fold would seem to indicate the writers have something in mind for the guy other than being the town doormat. Only time will tell…

Say What? Our TV Quote of the Day!
“MP ratings thru the roof when counted properly. Neilsons+TIVO+DVR+ONLINE+VCR+INT’L+Calabro Family and Friends.” — joked the good doctor, MELROSE PLACE’s very own Michael Mancini via twitter @ThomasCalabro
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Not-So-Burning Questions On Our Minds Today

Did GOSSIP GIRL really expect us be buy those studious students?
We totally buy that college students would opt to watch Vanessa’s documentary over attending Blair’s cocktail party. Not. Sorry, but no matter how annoying the hostess, the first rule of college is “free booze is free booze.”
Was there a light shining directly in Wentworth Miller’s eyes for the entire duration of the LAW & ORDER: SVU season premiere?
That’s the only way to explain the fact that he squinted through the entire episode. If PRISON was his BREAKout performance, this one might have shown that he’s a one-hit wonder.
How long can actors really be expected to remain in high school?
THE VAMPIRE DIARES alone features both Paul Wesley (who, as Paul Wasilewski, was playing a teen on GUIDING LIGHT back in 1999) and Kayla Ewell (who was a FREAKS & GEEKS high schooler in 2000). That’s a long time for even the slowest of slow students to be held back!

We Profile DEXTER’s Newest Serial Killer: John Lithgow
Dexter Morgan isn’t just America’s favorite serial killer, he is America’s most proficient one.
Which probably explains why, when DEXTER returns tonight for the start of its highly anticipated fourth season (9PM on Showtime, 10PM on TMN in Canada), so too will an entirely new nemesis. (RIP: The Ice Truck Killer, Miguel Prado)
Meet Arthur Mitchell, or as the press has already dubbed him: the Trinity Killer.
And just who did executive producers Clyde Phillips and Sara Colleton lure to play said killer? None-other than two-time 3rd ROCK FROM THE SUN Emmy-winner John Lithgow.
No really.
“People have almost forgotten Raising Cain, Cliffhanger, Ricochet, those types of films were my stock and trade for a while.” joked the actor at the recent DEXTER panel at San Diego Comic Con. “I loved the character of Dick Solomon and am proud of 3rd ROCK but it’s nice to be back.”
Soap Star Is New FRINGE Bad Guy!
You win some, you lose some. Sebastian Roche — best known for his role as GENERAL HOSPITAL’s psychotic Jerry Jax — used his twitter account to share the news that THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE had been canceled. And while the talented actor had booked a recurring role on the God-awful series as the father of Sara Paxton’s Raina, he still had reason to smile. Seems he’s also been booked what he referred to as “a big recurring baddie part” on FOX’s sophomore series FRINGE. Bad comes naturally to Roche, who — when now torturing the folks on HOSPITAL — was also been seen making life hellish for good guy Jack Bauer last season on 24.

TV to Tweet About: The CW Cancels THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE: TBL
In an effort to avoid the dubious distinction that comes with green-lighting the first cancelled show of the Fall, the CW tried their best to bury the news that production has been officially halted on THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE: TBL late Friday afternoon. But try as they might, the CW couldn’t stop the tweet. Which is why we thought it might be fun to compile our ten favorite TBL related ones, starting off of course with our own shameless twitter plug reaction upon hearing the news.
“Sorry CW, there is no hiding your massive failure on “Take Out the Trash Day.” THE WEST WING taught us well” @theTVaddict
“When the CW didn’t even bother sending out finished review copy of TBL pilot, the writing (or lack of) was already on the cancellation wall.” @roushtvguidemag
“I’m sad that Corbin Bleu took off his clothes for nothing. Colon TBL we hardly knew ya” @duckydoestv
Eliza Dushku Talks DOLLHOUSE Season 2
“It’s like DEXTER Freaky.”
Is how actress Eliza Dushku describes an upcoming episode of DOLLHOUSE that revolves around how Dichen Lachman’s Sierra found herself employed by the mysterious Rossum Corporation.
“The episode just blew my mind,” revealed a visibly excited Dushku during a recent one-on-one with the TV Addict. “Dichen’s introduction to the Dollhouse is so dark and layered.”
Two words which coincidentally also sum up the second season of DOLLHOUSE, which returns tonight on FOX at 9PM (Global TV in Canada) after a rocky first season that culminated in a phenomenal string of episode, including the unaired “Epitaph One” (only available on DVD and iTunes)
Just don’t ask Eliza Dushku what’s going to happen next.
