What Are You Thankful For? [TV Edition]

With American Thanksgiving mere days away, we at theTVaddict.com thought now would be the perfect time to give you — our far smarter and better looking readers —the opportunity to post the obligatory “What You’re Thankful For…”

Of course, please keep in mind that this is theTVaddict.com, not your family dinner table. So while we’re sure you’re happy for continued health, family, friends, peace on earth, yadda, yadda yadda — we don’t care.

This TV Addict wants to hear about the superficial, absolutely pointless, TV-related things you’re thankful for. You know, the important stuff like how an apparent pre-requisite for being a “Visitor” is that you’re really hot. Or the fact that NBC is doing so poorly in the ratings that not only is CHUCK coming back sooner than originally planned, but COMMUNITY and PARKS AND RECREATION seem like sure-fire candidates for renewal.

Other TV Addict ‘approved’ things to be thankful for include the awesomeness that is FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS fourth season (East Dillon Lions 4ever!), the return of LOST and DAMAGES, the 2010 premieres of CAPRICA and LIFE UNEXPECTED, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, MODERN FAMILY, GLEE, VAMPIRE DIARIES and/or our classic ‘go-to’ which is the overall general awesomeness that is Neil Patrick Harris.

Now that you’ve got the idea, post away and be sure to check back with theTVaddict.com all throughout the week (on a scheduled Turkey break of course) to see if your post was featured.

…is thankful that NBC MIGHT be coming to its senses and brought Chuck back earlier than expected!

  • Remy

I’m immensely grateful for tonight’s How I Met Your Mother – Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap. SO RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED.

I’m also thankful for The Big Bang Theory for always making me laugh, and Gossip Girl for continuously bringing the crazy as only the CW can. I’m thankful for Chuck returning around my birthday, which is kind of the best present ever.

Oh, and I’m thankful for my parents not laughing at me when I asked for another DVR for Christmas. Clearly they understand the necessity of it.

  • Michael

    I’m thankful for:

    – a so-far AMAZING season of Ugly Betty! I love this show so much, and I hope the positive response can pull it through for another season.
    – Lost being on Tuesdays nights, so Betty can possibly take Eastwick’s time slot.
    – Tina Fey. Duh.
    – Calzona, because they are officially my favorite couple on Grey’s Anatomy right now. Jessica Capshaw and Sara Ramirez are fabulous.
    – Modern Family, because it’s probably the funniest show on television.
    – the return of Better Off Ted!!

  • If you’re thankful for Friday Night Lights, you also gotta thank DirecTV. Their DVR may suck, but The 101 Network is awesome. 😉

I’m Thankful for the break up of Barney and Robin, it wasn’t going anywhere.

  • CristianFar

Im thankful for last nigth’s episode of Dexter and it’s awesome cliffhanger in the end!!

  • Josh Emerson

    – The return of CHUCK!
    – ABC’s Fall 2009 new shows: I can’t remember the last time a network had so many brand new shows I enjoy. Modern Family, Cougar Town, The Middle, V, and FlashFoward are all on my must-see list. It almost makes up for the cancellation of Pushing Daisies.
    – Repeats of The Big Bang Theory during the summer. If I hadn’t watched those, I may never have went and downloaded the previous seasons and realized what a great show it is.
    – Gavin and Stacey, the brilliant British show that is returning for its final season this week. I love this show. It ranks right up there with my favorite American comedies. I can’t think of a better TV character than Nessa.

  • Megan

Wow there is so much, as a Canadian I’ve already given my Thanks at our Thanksgiving, but it’s never too much to say an additional Thanks for some of the wonderful TV gifts we get.

    – Glee: one of the best new shows by far. Also for the sound track, it’s kind of awesome!
    -Modern Family : Love it
-Three Rivers: I don’t care that most dislike it, I enjoy it. I also enjoy Alex O’Loughlin.
-The cancellation of The Beautiful Life:TBL – It was terrible.

Many more but I’ll stop there.

  • Wanda

I’m thankful for the genius of AMC which allowed us the brilliance that is “Breaking Bad”. A very close second to that same network for “Mad Men”. I adore Bravo for the guity pleasures of “Top Chef” and the “Real Housewives” franchise. CBS is like Grandpa still being alive with “Survivor”. I’m thankful for cable overall – somewhere out there, at any given time, there’s something good to watch

    I’m thankful for…
Chuck coming back sooner & getting 6 more episodes.
The plethora of awesome network comedies: Parks & Rec, Community, The Office, 30 Rock, Modern Family, The Middle, Cougar Town, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, etc.
    The USA Network
Also, Friday Night Lights, Glee, Breaking Bad, Lost…

  • Jennie

I’m thankful Sheldon got a nice booby grab and an eyeful of ass this week on TBBT, because I just can’t wait for the writers/producers to realize that Penny belongs with Sheldon, not Leonerd.

I am grateful that Marc and Amanda are finally getting good scenes on Ugly Betty, ’cause to be honest, last year kinda sucked, but this year’s back on track.

I’m thankful that NBC passed on Medium this year, because it’s doing so much better on CBS and that was the only show I still watched on NBC. They didn’t deserve it anyway. They treated that show like crap. Although, it seems they treat a lot of their show that way, except 30 Rock.

Snd Lastly I’m thankful that Smallville is awesome this year!! And that he’s gonna FLY this year (no it’s just rumor, but I have high hopes for a Christmas miracle 😀 )

  • Jennie

Oh, God, I forgot Glee!! I’m thankful for Glee. And Puck. And Kurt.

  • LB

As a fellow Canadian I’ve already had my 2009 Thanksgiving, but since I love TV I’m thankful for:

*TV blogs like this one. If it weren’t for TV blogs, I doubt I would have recently started watching Chuck, only to get absolutely addicted, which leads to…
*Chuck coming back early (and with more episodes)!
*Dexter, Fringe and Sons of Anarchy being so good this season.
*Lost being moved to Tuesdays (so I finally have something to watch on that night!)
*Glee – especially Puck, Finn, Kurt and Sue!

  • Andy

-Amazon for lowering series 3 and 4 of Doctor Who down last week to half price. I can finally own them on DVD!

-For Network TV working so hard this Fall. I have so many new shows I am watching and so many reworked shows that are getting me excited again. Plus the return of Better off Ted in a few weeks. Out of all of my must see shows there are not any I want to miss.

-I am thankful that I have so much to look forward to. The final season of Lost and Celebrity Big Brother UK. Yet another Survivor All Stars, and the return of 24 and the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

  • Kristen

I’m thankful for OnDemand and TV online. If these didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be able to stay up-to-date with 90210. MP, V, MF, Mercy, Community, VD, and It’s Always Sunny.

  • Ace

First and foremost NBC picking up Chuck, giving them more episodes AND bringing them back early.

Second, the resurgance of the half hour comedy. Modern Family, Better off Ted, HIMYM, BBT, The Office, 30 Rock…goooood stuff.

Third, the inventor of the DVR/TiVo. What a great human being.

  • TVFan

Tivo, Chuck, 50% of CBS’ Monday night comedy block, 100% of NBC’s Thursday night comedy block (minus Leno of course), Modern Family, Glee, Alex O’Loughlin, Chuck Bass, and Hulu.com

  • bws

Like Ace, I think I’m most thankful for so many half-hour comedies. Because sometimes, that’s all the time I have. I love Better Off Ted, Modern Family, 30 Rock, The Office, Sunny, The League (oh yes), South Park, Colbert, and the Daily Show. 22 minutes is juuuuuust right.

  • shara says

I’m grateful that Chuck is coming back early, with extra episodes!!!

I’m grateful for this awesome season of Sons of Anarchy.

I’m grateful that Lie to Me is on fire this season! Let’s hope it gets a back-9 pickup.

I’m grateful that i can tune in to Castle every week and will be guaranteed an hours worth of grinning and giggling 😀

  • Kelly

I’m thankful that I am not depressed that The Office has lost its awesomeness this year because I can watch three other comedies on NBC that night that are better than it. (Also for Andy/Ed Helms, which is the only reason I still watch)

Glee is incredible. And I love everyone on Modern Family.
