THE BACHELOR’s Hypocritical Kiss Off

By: CouchTater

As the he said/she said surrounding the scandal which unfolded on Monday night’s THE BACHELOR continues to play out, one can’t help but wonder exactly how much of this was contrived by ABC who had to know going in that while Jake is hot as hell, he’s also dull as dishwater.

The problem with the claim that contestant Rozlyn Papa had an “inappropriate relationship” with a producer is that it’s wildly hypocritical of the show. How can her actions — which so far seem to consist of nuzzling, canoodling and perhaps making out (all of which the oh-so-melodramatic New York Post classified as her “crimes”) — be any worse than those of Jake, who is wooing more than a dozen women at the same time? Why does he get to make out with impunity while she gets the kiss off?

Even if — and this is a big leap — Papa actually went so far as to sleep with the since-fired producer, how does that in any way, shape or form violate the spirit of a show which features romantic “overnight” dates on which the bachelor or bachelorette supposedly searching for “love” is clearly shown to be having what the series itself seems to be calling “inappropriate relations.”

It’s telling that in interview after interview, host Chris Harrison says things like “I can not make it any clearer” while refusing to actually give details of the alleged relationship. In other words, he could make it much, much clearer. But then ABC would have to admit that they basically made a mountain out of a molehill in order to drum up interest in a show that has become a parody of itself.

Check out Reality Steve’s website. It gives a pretty good account of what actually went on (which was nothing, as you speculated) and the reasons behind the scandal.

ABC edits the hell out of the Bachelor for good reason. Ratings. I agree with Reality Steve that the big Chris/Roz conversation doesn’t fit. She replies very oddly to a couple of statements. The bottom line is that it was very carefully constructed from multiple legal standpoints. That is all.

Oh, don’t go to Reality Steve’s site if you want to remain “unspoiled.” He has the final four in order.

If she signed a contract then she is to abide by it. You cannot edit someone to look like a slut unless you talk and/or act like a slut. This is not a new show. When these girls go on there and act like trash, shut up about the way the edit you. It is taken out of your own mouth

Folks, haven’t you learned to BELIEVE NOTHING about “reality TV?” Of course this was contrived and exploited. Just like every other “scandal” leaked to the media to drum up interest in other reality shows. Speidi walking off the celebrity island…Paula sleeping with a contestant…the guy on Jersey Shore getting punched…Trump attacking Martha Stewart…I could go on and on.

They’re ALL staged publicity stunts, because “out of sight, out of mind.” Wise up, America. You’re being taken for the fools that you are. And the producers are laughing all the way to the bank.
