While I am glad RDJ won, I wasn’t aware Sherlock Holmes was a comedy. Parts were funny, but no more than any action adventure-ish movie. What a weird category.

  • While I’m happy Glee’s originality and daring earned the award, I wish Modern Family had won because it has better writing.

  • Hil

    “because it has better writing”

Giving Avatar the top award kinda ruined the whole idea that writing had any factor in the Globes this year. Glee out prettied Modern Family.

  • Dave

Yeah I was surprised Avatar won over Hurt Locker, also hated Cameron’s speech when he won. Really would have liked Modern Family to have won over Glee, but was happy to see Lithgow and Michael C Hall win for their roles in Dexter.

I think we will see some switching at the more prestigious awards. Modern Family winning over Glee at the Emmys and Hurt Locker/Up In The Air winning over Avatar at the Oscars.

I honestly feel bad for any director that poured their heart and soul into a movie this year and got nominated for it. Avatar came out only like 3 weeks ago and is taking all of the awards. Jason Reitman, Quentin Tarantino, Kathryn Bigelow, and Lee Daniels can all kiss their dream of winning an Oscar for best director good bye. I really didn’t like James Cameron (that ex-patriot!)’s speech. Did he seriously think that he wasn’t going to win those Golden Globes? Seriously?

    >Did he seriously think that he wasn’t going to win those Golden Globes? Seriously?

Maybe he wondered if his check cleared in time.

    Avatar – what a joke.

The entire movie is rip-off of Dances with Wolves, and Dune.
Can we get the plagerism police in here please?

  • Hil

And Dragonriders of Pern. And FernGully. And Pocahontas. And Timespirits. The writing credits of that film should have been a page long. And to think, with all of those sources it still wasn’t any good. Millions of dollars spent on blue skin and not a dime for the story. I hope that it doesn’t start a trend.

    LOL! So true!
I haven’t seen Avatar, but if its like Pocahontas but times 10 then I think I’ll save my $15 that it costs to see it in 3D. Especially if the main theme of the movie is to take care of the Earth. I think Al Gore covered that already. I think my new goal will be: to be the only person on Earth that hasn’t seen Avatar…I think I’m close to reaching that goal.
