Say What? Our TV Quote of the Day!

“I know me, I wouldn’t have done that… If I had surrendered THE TONIGHT SHOW and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well…and then…six months later. But that’s me, you know. Everyone’s got their own, you know, way of doing things,” said Conan O’Brien to interviewer Steve Kroft in an excerpt released from Sunday night’s highly-anticipated 60 MINUTES interview.

Who wants to bet that this is going to end up being a very highly rated 60 Minutes?

I am glad he has a new show lined up, but it sucks that his dream job got taken away in that ridiculous fashion. Doesn't help that I've never found Leno funny at all. Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel have been a pretty good substitute for now. Can't wait for Kimmel's post-LOST special.

But he kinda took Jay's job also. because he made them put in his contract that he would be the next host of the tonight show. I mean disagree with everything that happened to conan but I wouldn't exactly call him innocent in the whole deal as he is trying to portray.

Leno retired by his own choice. He set the date himself and wanted out (and into what he thought would be a career changing early evening show). Conan didn't force him out at all. That's a fact.

Leno's next show failed and then he decided he wanted his old gig back despite his retirement. If he loved the show so much he would have never left it in the first place. He should have done a book deal, gone on tour, or worked on his car collection. Forcing Conan out instead of doing the classy thing and moving on was low.
