PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Star Shay Mitchell Shares Some Pretty Big Secrets
By: Melissa Girimonte
ABC Family’s hit teen soap PRETTY LITTLE LIARS has become this summer’s most addictive series, and the hottest guilty pleasure for the over 25 set. Emily, played by Shay Mitchell, is the sporty, shy, and sexually confused member of the teenage quartet left to deal with their friend’s mysterious disappearance and death.
Shay enthusiastically chatted with us about her burgeoning relationship with Maya, why Alison’s brother returning to Rosewood could stir things up, and promises that upcoming surprises will knock us off the edge of our seats!
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is targeted at a young adult audience, but has managed to attract quite a few more mature followers. Did you think that the show would attract such a broad audience?
Shay Mitchell: Honestly, yes, from reading the script and the books. Even my mom was really really into it, and she started telling all of her coworkers, and they were really into it. It’s dealing with our parents’ relationships and stuff that they’re going through, so I did know that it was going to be broad spectrum. I was still surprised to see just how many people liked it, though. They’d come up and say, “Well, we really didn’t watch ABC Family before because you think it would be for a younger age group, but we’re really addicted to this show.” I think that’s awesome.

GLEE’s Latest Addition to Cast Strikes a Chord!
Chris Colfer has a dream.
That dream — revealed in a recent interview with theTVaddict.com — was for the fictional TV boyfriend that creator Ryan Murphy promised he’d be getting when GLEE returns for its second season this Fall to be less attractive than him, because Lord knows he doesn’t want to be, as he put it, “the bad end of the couple.”
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: GLEE, SMALLVILLE, COMMUNITY, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and FRINGE Spoilers Direct from San Diego Comic Con 2010
Giving fans of the hit FOX show something to really be GLEEful about was creator Ryan Murphy, who during Sunday’s Comic-Con panel celebrating the series uttered the one phrase that is music to our ears. Namely, that the second season will bring with it a greater emphasis on individual characters (like Brittany and Mike Chang, the latter of whom will become the object of Tina’s affection) over massive production numbers (From five per episode down from eight). Also helping the series defy gravity a sophomore slump will be the return of Popular (or is it Wicked?) guest stars Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, along with episodes revolving around “Britney Spears” and the “Rocky Horror” picture show.
Move over Barney Stinson, next season, a far more Legen… wait for it… dary television star will be suiting up. Translation: After 9 agonizing years of waiting, Clark Kent will finally break SMALLVILLE’s self-imposed no-tights-no-flights” policy by doing both. “There are some people who don’t like the fact that we’ve waited this long to do the suit or become Superman,” said Tom Welling in an interview with TVGuide.com. “You also have to understand that if we had done that in Season 1, we would’ve been done. The fact that we’ve lasted this long is because we’ve struggled and tried to put off the inevitable this long.”

An In Depth Look At… James Franco’s Next Move!
Holy Francofrenia! At the end of Friday’s GENERAL HOSPITAL, it seemed Jason-lovin’, serial-killin’, performance art-creatin’ madman known as Franco had met his maker. But was he pushed by mancrush Jason? Did he jump? Or is there something more than anyone imagined going on?
“Franco’s whole exhibit was about blurring the lines between reality and fantasy,” says executive Soaps In Depth Richard M. Simms. “So it probably won’t come as a huge surprise to anyone that Franco’s not actually dead.” What may come as a surprise, however, is the next step in his fiendish plan.
