Don’t Shoot the Messenger, Re: “Young” Hollywood’s Cancer PSA

Subject: When did 30 become the new 20?

Message Body: Despite my hesitation to knock anything that supports a cause as important as, I do feel the inexplicable need to point out an issue I have with this celebrity-filled new PSA promoting this year’s Stand Up to Cancer Fundraiser (airing across 14 networks on September 10, at 8PM). That problem — aside from the terrifying fact that 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 woman will get cancer in our lifetime, and my inability to identify more than a handful of the stars making cameos in the video has me thinking I’m clearly not as “on-the-ball” pop-culture wise as I once thought I was — is the following: Should John Heder (33), Kristen Bell (30), Zachary Levi (30) and Donald Faison (36) really be considered “Young” Hollywood anymore? Just sayin’

40 is the new 25 in Hollywood, didn't you know?

I didn't realize Kristen Bell is 30. I still think of her as being “young Hollywood.” This video makes me really want her and Zach Levi to work together though. I would die if she'd make a guest appearance on Chuck.

Honestly, I think it's more of what appeals to the younger population. Kristen Bell is still loved by the teenage age group for Gossip Girl's voice, among other things.

Josh — Kristen on Chuck would be amazing.

I still think of Kristen Bell as young Hollywood too but not Zach, even though they are the same age. If you still look like you could pull off playing a college student, I say you can still be called “young Hollywood.” :-P

My real question is whether Dakota Fanning and Donald Faison should really be considered the same generation, as they say at the end.

awww why not they all look young and still get cast in those roles so i guess that's the requirement. I like this its always good to have this message out there and is it wrong that i recognize all of them… :-/

well, they are liked by teenagers and it isn't like they're in their retirement homes yet. heder is still recognized for Napoleon Dynamite and even though it isn't targeted for teenagers, Scrubs is actually really well liked among most teenagers. And Kristen Bell is Gossip Girl, was Veronica Mars only a little while ago, and still looks like she's 16. so i say yes, they are young hollywood.

I'm also questioning how it is that you even thought about any of this. I was too disturbed the statistics to even think about much else in the commercial.
