90210! PARKS & RECREATION! SKINS! CHUCK! Our TV Addict Week in Rewind
Favorite TV Town: Move over Stars Hollow, because Thursday’s hilarious and surprisingly poignant instalment of PARKS AND RECREATION that saw dozens of Pawnee denizens spend the better part of twenty-two minutes arguing over whether or not the Twilight series “encapsulated” their fare town not had us not only wishing we could visit, but that our government officials had even a smidgen of the dedication of one Leslie Knope.
Sudsiest Moment: THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS put the opera in soap opera by having a gorgeous aria play over a sequence of events which culminated in the shooting of Cane on the church steps as a wedding took place inside.
Least Eagerly Anticipated Return: NBC announced that THE EVENT comes back on March 7, leaving most with only one question: Why?
Best Argument Against Big Media Mergers: Mere days after Comcast officially became NBCUniversal’s parent company, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (now a division of Comcast) featured a Weekend Update sketch that shone a spotlight on cable competitor Time Warner’s shoddy service. Suspicious much?!
Biggest Bandwagon Alert: If our twitter stream was any indication following Monday’s fantastic episode in which Jeffster! provided for the soundtrack to Ellie’s birth, CHUCK just solidified a stop atop our summer must-catch-up list.

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with GLEE Star Jane Lynch
Don’t stop believing… the hype will ever end. No really. Just in case airing after the year’s biggest television event wasn’t enough of a lead-in, star Jane Lynch took to the phones yesterday afternoon to talk about Sunday’s post-Super Bowl, in addition to what’s in store for her award-winning small screen alter ego as GLEE kicks off the second half of season two.
Just how big is Sunday’s post-Super Bowl episode of GLEE?
Jane Lynch: We’re kind of doing an episode of GLEE that is on steroids. Even though she has kids riding around on BMX bikes and jumping through fire to Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” Sue Sylvester is a little bored with her routine. She wants to top herself, and when she finds out there is a human cannon in town, she buys it with the intent of shooting Brittany out of it. Naturally, Principal Figgins doesn’t allow it, calling it a liability issue, so Sue has a hissy fit, two actually, where she rips rooms apart. Pretty much, Sue Sylvester is on the warpath!
Do you have a preference between GLEE’s event-type episode, versus the more run-or-the-mill ones?
What I love about this show, maybe with the exception of one or two episodes, is that every episode is kind of a big deal. Whether there’s an outrageous song, or moment, I always look forward to getting the scripts. Of course, those shows where we’re doing Britney, Madonna, Sunday’s episode after the Super Bowl, where it’s very special, they’re very fun as well. But I like them all.

We Check in with Tonight’s GREY’S ANATOMY McDirector Kevin McKidd
Riddle me this fellow TV Addicts: How is it possible for an actor to spend his entire day on set and yet rarely appear on screen? Easy, when the actor is directing! Such is the case when it comes to tonight’s episode of GREY’S ANATOMY that saw Kevin McKidd step behind the camera for the very first time. But where did this directing bug come from, what was the biggest challenge, and of course, what does the future hold for Owen and Cristina? We caught up with the multi-talented McKidd late last week to find out just that.
When did you catch the directing bug?
Kevin McKidd: Having had the opportunity to work with such great directors throughout my career (see: Danny Boyle, Irwin Winkler, Ridley Scott to name a few) directing was just always something I wanted to do. But I was busy as an actor, so when GREY’S ANATOMY afforded me the time, I took the opportunity to shadow many of our fantastic directors, get comfortable with the process, and eventually ask Shonda for a shot. And after sort of proving my stuff with last year’s webisodes which turned out alright, I was given tonight’s episode.
What was the most challenging aspect about directing the episode?
Making sure that I was as prepared as I could possibly be so that nothing would come from left of field as well as making sure I basically didn’t embarrass myself in front of my friends and family! That, and the OR stuff is always tricky because it’s very technical. All the operating stuff is hard because you have an idea in your head of how you want to shoot it but there might be a medical reason why a doctor can’t be in that spot and have to be over here right now because medically this is happening etc. So you have to roll with all of that and that’s quite tricky. Also, my episode if very interior and static. There are a lot of people talking in patient rooms and in OR’s so the challenge generally in my episode was to keep things moving and give the episode some energy and impulse.
