THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! 90210! GOSSIP GIRL! The CW Announces Early Pickups For 50% of Their Primetime Lineup

Good News: The CW has awarded early pickups to five of their most popular shows including AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, GOSSIP GIRL, 90210 and SUPERNATURAL. Bad News: For the cast and crew of HELLCATS, ONE TREE HILL and NIKITA, all of whom will be collectively holding their breath until the CW officially unveils their Fall 2011-12 schedule at their annual Mid-May UpFront in New York City.

Top Model….one of the “most popular?” Boy, is that using the term loosely. 16 cycles of repetition, and another 2 to come, huh? Wow, how far will CW let the ratings on that thing sink until they insist upon a male version change-up?

As for the 3 shows hanging in the balance…I won’t be heartbroken over the pickup or cancellation of any, to be honest. CW needs some breakout hits, with older shows leaving the sked. Frankly and honestly, I’d rather have Life Unexpected or Privileged or Reaper than any of these 3.

Someone please help me understand Nikita. For the first half of the season before American Idol returned, it was usually the CW’s second most watched show behind Vampire Diaries. I get that the ratings have fallen since but does no one in charge remember that?

The others two I can do without.

I might be wrong but i think it doesnt do well in Women 18-34 which is what CW is looking for in the ratings department

I think they’ll eventually pick it up…they just don’t want to tell all their secrets up front. 🙂

If The CW is to succeed, the guy replacing Ostroff needs to broaden the teensy-tiny focus of his audience. Men watch a whole lotta TV…why would the network eliminate one-half of its viewership potential by touting only “chick shows?”

That said, Nikita is an ok show, but opposite CSI and Grey’s and The Office and Bones/Idol? What were the expectations? I’ve also watched a few eps, and am not “pulled in” by any storyline whatsoever.

Please let OTH die. Dear lord it’s been on forever.
Same goes for Supernatural. I love that show but I kind of wish they would have ended it.

    Hoping they renew Nikita.
