Well, it’s official. Audiences aren’t the only ones who have fallen in love with Zooey Deschanel’s NEW GIRL. Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company is pretty head-over-heels as well. Or, at least that’s what we’re going to assume based on this afternoon’s not-the-least-bit-surprising press release that has him announcing that the network has ordered an additional 11 episodes of the fall freshman hit, bringing its total to a complete 24-episodes first season order.
“We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline,” said Reilly. “It’s great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we’re confident that even more people will embrace the show – and more comedy on FOX – this season.”
Suffice it to say, the pickup comes as no surprise considering NEW GIRL premiered was FOX’s highest-rated fall sitcom debut in 10 years, quickly establishing itself as Tuesday’s No. 1 series among Adults 18-49 and this season’s No. 1 new series among Adults 18-34, Women 18-34 and Teens.
NEW GIRL premieres Tuesday September 20th at 9PM on FOX (CityTV in Canada) and stars Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, Jake M. Johnson and Lamorne Morris. Catch up on past episodes you may have missed for free online at clicktowatch.tv
