Pick-Up-Palooza: HAVEN, BOARDWALK EMPIRE & RINGER All Get the Go-Ahead For More!

Question: What do the likes of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Steve Buscemi and Eric Balfour all have in common? Answer: They, among with an entire slew of cast and crew both in front and behind the camera all have a reason to smile today thanks to the news that HAVEN, BOARDWALK EMPIRE and RINGER have all been given the go ahead for more episodes.

Kicking off the flurry of activity today was the Syfy Network, which at approximately 1PM EST announced that a deal has been reached for a 13 episode third season of HAVEN, the popular supernatural summer series based on the Stephen King Novella The Colorado Kid. Next up — a mere 20 minutes later in fact — was pay-cabler HBO which went ahead and made what we’re calling this week’s “No-Brainer Executive Move of the Week” by renewing BOARDWALK EMPIRE for a third season following what HBO Prez Michael Lombardo characterized as a stellar second season that “continues to surpass our highest expectations.” Not to be outdone, the CW capped off the day at around 4PM EST by giving RINGER a full season order, making the Sarah Michelle Gellar sudser the network’s first freshman series to get that much sought after green-light.

And since we’re on the subject of shows that are deserving of that very same green-light, it behooves us to mention — you know, on the off chance any Network executives are reading this — that a handful of TV Addict favorites including HART OF DIXIE, REVENGE and HAPPY ENDINGS are still waiting for their much-deserved good news. Which naturally raises the slightly awkward albeit painfully obvious question: What’s the hold up? Seriously. We’re waiting!

Yes! I’m so happy, I really like this show and it keeps getting better.
Now, I only need ABC to pick up Revenge and Suburgatory and I’ll be
    officially over the moon!

  • Good point about SUBURGATORY, which I didn’t bother including because it seems like a sure thing for renewal based on the ratings of its two outings.
