With the Network’s traditional May UpFronts just around the corner, theTVaddict.com thought now might be as good a time as any to take a closer look at the potential fates of your favorite shows.
You Take the Good: Where David Caruso goes, viewers follow.
You Take the Bad: In terms of advertising friendly 18-49 viewers, far more of them follow the likes of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE and GCB on Sunday nights at 10PM.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Expect CSI: MIAMI to live to investigate another season with a timeslot shift to Friday. Which not to bury the lede, just about spells doom for…
You Take the Good: Despite a Friday night timeslot, the New York branch of the CSI franchise continues to pull in close to 10 million viewers.
You Take the Bad: A Friday night timeslot is the Network equivalent of purgatory.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: We can’t help but feel that CSI: NY’s luck — which saw it narrowly stave off cancelation last spring — has all but run out.
A GIFTED MAN
You Take the Good: It’s hard to speak poorly of any show that provides regular work for the incomparable Margo Martindale (See: JUSTIFIED)
You Take the Bad: UNDERCOVER BOSS attracted more viewers to Friday nights at 8PM at a fraction of the cost.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Expect A GIFTED MAN to find out what it’s like to be an unemployed one come Fall 2012.
You Take the Good: Do you really want to be the Network executive responsible for calling up Producer Robert De Niro to tell him his show is canceled?
You Take the Bad: A late spring launch virtually assured this show would fail on CBS. Just ask the stars of MIAMI MEDICAL and HARPER’S ISLAND.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Poor Adam Goldberg and Leelee Sobieski cannot catch a break.
You Take the Good: Audiences only had to endure eight episodes of this painfully unfunny and borderline offensive ‘comedy.’
You Take the Bad: Did you see the show?
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Adios ROB!
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
You Take the Good: After six seasons and more timeslots than you can shake a stick at, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT remains CBS’ ultimate utility players. Consistently coming off the bench to plug inevitable holes in the Network’s schedule. (See: The fiasco that was last Fall’s HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN)
You Take the Bad: Produced by Sony Pictures Television, CBS doesn’t profit off the show should it hit 100 episodes next season.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Based on the rumors that CBS is mulling over an expansion of their Monday night comedy block to Thursday, we suspect the Tiffany Network might be willing to give RULES yet another reprieve as a result of the time-tested belief that the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.
You Take the Good: Thanks to at high profile Tuesday at 10PM timeslot following both NCIS and NCIS: LOS ANGELES, CBS clearly had high hopes for this Poppy Montgomery vehicle.
You Take the Bad: A third of the 16 million or so viewers who tune into NCIS: LOS ANGELES each and every week forgot to stick around.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Having invested heavily in this pricey CBS procedural, UNFORGETTABLE will more than likely survive to season two. Just not on Tuesday nights.
