Behind-the-Scenes of THE VOICE’s Live Viewing Party at Hollywood’s House of Blues

By: Courtney Vaudreuil

There were some audible gasps at THE VOICE live viewing party last Thursday night at Hollywood’s House of Blues, as America and the judges decided which contestants would stay and which would go home.  theTVaddict.com was on hand and caught up with the contestants after the show, and before they took the stage for an intimate performance.  Oh, and there was also a performance by judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and CeeLo Green. Check out the interviews, some photos, and a video of the judges’ performance after the jump.

At the end of the first week of the live round, there are now only twelve contestants remaining.  America voted on which two contestants would stay, and each judge had a chance to save a third.  Moving forward, the teams are:  Team CeeLo – Nicholas David, Trevyn Hunte, Cody Belew; Team Christina – Adriana Lousie, Sylvia Yacoub, and Dez Duron; Team Blake – Cassadee Pope, Michaela Paige, and Terry McDermott; and Team Adam – Bryan Keith, Amanda Brown, and Melanie Martinez.  The contestants shared with theTVaddict.com their feelings on moving forward and what they hope to accomplish after the competition.

When asked if he was surprised to have made it through to the next round, Nicholas David responded, “To be honest I was a little bit, but I also, I kind of felt like I wasn’t done yet.  I definitely felt like I wasn’t done.  And you know, I’ve been listening to my heart my whole life and when you know, you know.”

David credits CeeLo will helping him get this far and couldn’t imagine how it would’ve been if he’d ended up on one of the other teams, “I don’t know.  To be honest with you, I don’t really know because I can’t see, I couldn’t see that happening.”  David explained that before coming on the show, he thought to himself, “Who do I see that can help me be me, and it was CeeLo.”

For Bryan Keith, his strategy for moving forward is “to keep connecting with people.”  “I want people to feel like even if I have never been through any situation that they’ve been through, I would try my best to put myself in their shoes.”  Though unwilling to disclose his next song selection, Keith promised the next round of performances will be “out of control.”

After the interviews, the judges took the stage and killed Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” and several other songs including The Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up.”  What was striking about their performance was how much fun they seemed to be having together.   There were lots of hugs and smiles, even from the usually reserved CeeLo.

Then the contestants took the stage.  At this point, all of them are recognized as talented signers, but during the concert, there were a couple who stood above the rest.  Nicholas David sang his soulful interpretation of Barry White’s, “My First, My Last, My Everything.”  Amanda Brown recreated her rousing performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On.”  But, it was Terry McDermott who brought the house down with his performance of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”  These three will be the ones to beat, and it will be a hard decision for America given their diverse styles.

Stay tuned to theTVaddict.com throughout the week for more scoop from contestants Cassadee Pope and Melanie Martinez, as well as more photos.  The live rounds continues tonight and tomorrow at 8/7c on NBC (CTV Two in Canada)
