GOTHAM Star Ben McKenzie Reveals When We’ll See Batman
GOTHAM’s season 2 promotional campaign has focused heavily on the villains rather than the protagonists, specifically Bruce Wayne, but now Ben McKenzie has offered his take on when the series exactly should introduce a full-grown Batman.
At a Wizard World convention in Chicago this weekend, McKenzie spoke up about the series’ plans to reserve Batman until the last possible moment of the series:
“The last frame of the last shot of the last scene of the last, uh, episode of Gotham, whatever season that may be, is Bruce putting on the cape. But it [Gotham] is everything leading up to that.”
TVInsider has debuted the second official photo of the new season, in which Alfred and Bruce enter into the mysterious cavern that was discovered last season. However, series star David Mazouz advises viewers against thinking of the cavern as a “Batcave,” at least yet.
“It changes everything in Bruce’s life. It changes how he sees Alfred, the criminal side of Gotham, even how he sees his parents. It’s definitely not the Batcave. What is down there are clues to Thomas Wayne’s secret life and what he was trying to do before being killed.”
The second season will make series regulars of Drew Powell‘s Butch Gilzean, Chris Chalk‘s Lucius Fox, Nicholas D’Agosto‘s Harvey Dent, and Morena Baccarin‘s Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Producers will also incorporate such villains as Clayface, the Mad Hatter, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, Tommy Elliot, and possibly even the Court of Owls, while early episodes will serve as a “pre-embryonic” origin story for the Joker.
In addition to Natalie Alyn Lynd‘s Silver Cloud and James Frain’s Theo Galavan, Gotham season 2 will also feature Michael Chiklis as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, and Jessica Lucas as Galavan’s sister (and future Tigress), Tabitha.
GOTHAM season 2 premieres Sept. 21st at 8PM on FOX.
CW Stars Tweet Their Congratulations To Stephen Amell On His SummerSlam Win
After months of feuding on social media with WWE Superstar Stardust aka Cody Rhodes, ARROW star Stephen Amell made his WWE debut last night at SummerSlam, joining up with Neville to take on his newest foe and his partner, King Barrett.
Although Amell took a beating for most of the match, he demonstrated some impressive moves, and he and Neville were able to pick up the win against Stardust and Barrett. While Amell celebrated with his partner backstage, several of his fellow CW stars tweeted up a congratulatory storm, starting with co-star John Barrowman.
John Barrowman: “.@amellywood that was Fucking Brilliant. Well done!! WINNER!!! Ice that shoulder:! JB.”
Brandon Routh: “He was great. I’m exhausted just watching @amellywood take a beating, then dish it out! Well fought!”
Robbie Amell: “Woooooo!!!! Yeah buddy! @amellywood.”
Even Colin Donnell, who departed the cast after the first season, was in attendance at the Barclays Center to cheer his pal on, saying: “. @amellywood f’ing killed it at #SummerSlam!!! #Arrow #WWE.”
Amell himself took to Twitter posting this photo of his bruised back with the caption “Worth it.” Although the focus was on his match, Stephen shared some details backstage on the upcoming season of Arrow before the bout, adding that the world will be “bigger”, in part by “getting into mystical things”, as well as visiting stories “that fans of [the DC Comics series] Green Arrow: Year One are really going to appreciate.”
The new season of ARROW premieres Oct. 7 at 8PM on The CW.

Alfre Woodard Joins Marvel’s LUKE CAGE In Leading Role
Deadline has learned that Alfre Woodard is finalizing a deal to star opposite Mike Colter in Marvel’s LUKE CAGE, the third series in Marvel’s four series package at Netflix.
Woodard will play Minetta, a powerful local politician who carries a big role in Cage’s life. However, Deadline also reports that “Minetta” could be a cover for Luke Cage’s main adversary in the comics, Black Mariah, a crime lord and drug dealer, though this has not been confirmed. LUKE CAGE centers on the titular character, a wrongly accused man who, granted superstrength by a sabotaged experiment, escapes prison and becomes a superhero for hire. He’ll make his first appearance on JESSICA JONES, which is scheduled to hit Netflix later this year. Cage is also a friend and business partner of Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, who will also be getting his own series. Marvel’s DAREDEVIL star Rosario Dawson is set to reprise her role as Claire Temple, who’ll become Cage’s love interest.
No word yet on when the series will begin production or when it’s scheduled to air.
New AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL Teasers Have Arrived
AMERICAN HORROR STORY always delivers on being creepy and disturbing, and the new teasers just released by Entertainment Weekly feature no shortage of both. The first shows a man with no face frantically banging on the guests’ doors and behaving erratically. The second involves another man laying beneath a mattress wearing makeup and a collar engaging in some strange foreplay with an unknown female – possibly Lady Gaga – before her hand wraps around his throat. They can be viewed here.
Gaga will star as Elizabeth, the owner of the titular hotel, which features an ensemble cast such as series regulars Sarah Paulson playing Hypodermic Sally, a drug addict, Denis O’Hare playing a movie icon named Liz Taylor (not that Elizabeth Taylor), and Evan Peters as Mr. March. Returning are fan favorites Finn Wittrock as Tristan Duffy, a male model, Angela Bassett as Ramona Royale, Kathy Bates as Iris, and Matt Bomer as Donovan. Other returning cast members include Wes Bentley as Detective John Lowe and Chloë Sevigny as his wife, Alex. New addition Cheyenne Jackson will play Will Drake, a fashion icon.
No plot details have been released yet other than creator Ryan Murphy revealing at the TCA’s that Gaga’s character Elizabeth “has a nefarious plan which is revealed in the first episode that plays out over the course of the season.”
AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL premieres Oct. 7th on FX.
