It is not easy to surprise someone who has been alive for 160 years, but tonight, Lily Salvatore (guest stare Annie Wersching) reveals things to her sons that they never knew on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

As Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) know, their mother has been in love with the sleazy, slimy Julian (guest star Todd Lasance) for over a century, but they had no idea that Lily had linked herself to Julian with magic.

If he dies, she dies.

Given the sons’ recent encounters with the Salvatore matriarch, being rid of Julian and Lily may not be the worst thing to happen.  They confront her about painful memories from their childhood and are left to question many things that they only thought they knew.

One solution for family rifts?  Thanksgiving with family and friends, of course.

Mix some cornbread, a turkey, some secrets and a confrontation between family members and get the traditional Thanksgiving.

Add a few blood bags and it is Thanksgiving with the Salvatores.

Holiday traditions are off to a rocky start.  Enzo (Michael Malarkey) challenges Julian to a duel, but something unexpected complicates matters.

Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo start a new holiday tradition with a field trip through the Midlothian County Impound in search of Oscar’s car.

Bonnie accuses Enzo of caring less about stopping Julian, and more about winning Lily away from the psychopath.  Since Julian wants Oscar’s car and whatever secrets it could reveal, so does Enzo.

Caroline (Candice King) finds out some “life-altering” news from Valerie (guest star Elizabeth Blackmore). and Matt (Zach Roerig) continues to follow the trail of the mystery that he and Bonnie encountered last week at Lily’s party.

Then, there is that incident where Enzo challenges Julian to a duel…

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES also stars Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman.  Other guest stars on tonight’s episode, “Mommie Dearest,” are Gavin Casalegno, Jaiden Kaine and John Charles Meyer.  “Mommie Dearest” was written by Co-Executive Producers, Chad Fiveash & James Stoteraux and directed by Co-Producer, Tony Solomons.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES airs on November 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
