Tensions between Russia and the United States have dominated the first several episodes of MADAM SECRETARY‘s second season. With the rise of Maria Ostroff and the cyber attack on Air Force One, the U.S. decided enough is enough and made their own move against Russia by taking out the power in Moscow in the last episode.
But what’s to come? A big speech, for one thing. As Elizabeth tells her staffers, she needs to make a speech before the United Nations that will convince everyone that the U.S. is prepared to go to war to contain Russian aggression. But whether they’re actually prepared to follow through is another story, particularly since starting a war with Russia could be costly. Instead, Elizabeth is desperately hoping the speech will be enough.
Meanwhile, the secrets between Henry and Elizabeth is making things tense between them. Elizabeth is particularly concerned because the last time she divulged secrets to him they were nearly sent to prison. But just as Elizabeth is prepared to make her big speech, Henry tells her something that may change her mind about Russia.
