KRYPTON: Syfy Greenlights Superman Prequel Pilot

Syfy has green-lit a pilot for a Superman prequel story called KRYPTON. The series will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (MAN OF STEEL). Damian Kindler (SLEEPY HOLLOW) will serve as executive producer/showrunner; Colm McCarthy (PEAKY BLINDERS) is set to direct and co-executive produce the pilot. The pilot teleplay and story is written by David S. Goyer & Ian Goldberg (ONCE UPON A TIME).

KRYPTON is set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet and the series “will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.”

“KRYPTON is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe,” said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman’s home to show how the timeless legend began.”
