DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season Finale Preview: A Savage Lifestyle

News and rumors abound regarding DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW’s Season 2, and it all begins with tonight’s Season1 finale, “Legendary.”

The team may have found a way to defeat Vandal Savage. It is tied to three meteors that are due to impact Earth at three separate moments in time. Each moment may require team members to be there to kill Vandal Savage at that particular point on the timeline…effectively killing the immortal madman three times.

Since Kendra’s (Ciara Renee´) and Carter’s (guest star Falk Hentschel) deaths historically are linked to the demise of Savage (guest star Casper Crump), look for some tactical planning to make that happen. Savage has brainwashed Hawkman and kidnaps Kendra back to Nazi Germany during World War II. Will the death of Savage also bring the death of the eternal lovers?

What happens when Rip returns the team to 2016 and lets each member decide his or her own destiny? Watch for Quentin Lance (ARROW’s Paul Blackthorne) to make a guest appearance and tell Sara that her sister, Laurel (ARROW’s Katie Cassidy) had been murdered. Sara may look for a way to travel back in time and save Laurel.

Also, look for dissention among the team members. If Sara finds out that Rip (Arthur Darvill) knew about Laurel’s death, it may alter her attitude about joining him on future missions.

Mick (Dominic Purcell), may be in the mood for vengeance because Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) stepped up to sacrifice himself to save the team, and there could be repercussions.

Executive Producer, Marc Guggenheim, reportedly has said that Miller is being dropped from series regular to being a recurring character throughout the Berlanti-verse.

Expect to see Miller on Legends and THE FLASH next season on what could be as many episodes as in a normal season for either show. Since the Legends travel through time, Captain Cold could be alive throughout the timeline, making the most of Miller’s ties to all 3 current shows.

If this new model that the producers seem to be setting forth… rotating characters through the four shows they will have on The CW next year, ARROW, THE FLASH, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and SUPERGIRL, which is moving over from CBS… the network could be the place to see many DC Comics characters not deemed strong enough to carry a feature film, but are beloved by readers.

One such character could be Booster Gold, a time-traveling member of the JUSTICE LEAGUE who also is Rip Hunter’s father, aka Michael Jon Carter. In the comics, Rip’s given name is “Richard,” but when the Legends went back in time to the orphanage in which Rip was raised, “Mother” referred to him as “Michael,” which could link back to Booster Gold and Booster’s Time Master sister, Michelle Carter.

Booster Gold also is tied to Maxwell Lord (SUPERGIRL’s Peter Facinelli) through the JUSTICE LEAGUE, making another plausible connection to SUPERGIRL if he shows up in the Legends’s orbit.

Jonah Hex (Johnathan Schaech) is slated to return for at least one episode in Season 2.

Then, there is the question of who SUITS star, Patrick J. Adams, will be playing in tonight’s episode. Adams’s character only recently has been listed to be “Alan Scott,” who is the original Green Lantern in the comic books from the 1940s.

Two more characters with ties to WWII also are thought to be up for casting. Rumors are that the series is casting for actors to play Lady Blackhawk and Citizen Steel to debut next year.

Will Adams bring a major shakeup with him? One thing seems certain…the landscape for Season 2 of DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW will get a “Rip”-roaring setup tonight and the shockwaves may be felt throughout the Berlanti-verse next season.

DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW also stars Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Franz Drameh and Amy Pemberton. Other guest stars tonight include Cameron Hilts and Blair Penner.

Dermott Downs directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Chris Fedak and teleplay by Phil Klemmer & Marc Guggenheim.

The season finale of DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW airs tonight (May 19) at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
