Wilmer Valderrama Joins NCIS

In a shrewd move by the producers of NCIS, Wilmer Valderrama will be joining the cast as a series regular in September.

A veteran of action (MINORITY REPORT), drama (GREY’S ANATOMY) and comedy (THAT ‘70S SHOW), Valderarrama has the acting credentials to fill the vacancy left by the departure of the action-packed, very dramatic and very funny, Very Special Agent, Tony DiNozzo, (Michael Weatherly).

Weatherly will be starring in the new series, BULL (watch a trailer), on CBS this fall. BULL will air between NCIS and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS on Tuesday nights.

According to CBS, Valderrama will play a once-grounded NCIS field agent who accepted a deep-cover assignment years ago and never resurfaced.

Some NCIS agents are unaware that Valderrama’s character is still with the agency, and others assume that he is dead. His dedication to the job and the country, coupled with being undercover for such a long time. have turned the character into what is described as “an unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon.”

Executive Producer, Gary Glasberg, says “Wilmer Valderrama will be able to flex his dramatic, physical and comedic talents in this classic ‘NCIS’ role. Fans are going to see him like they’ve never seen him before. This is going to be fun. We’re thrilled he’s coming aboard.”

Valderrama’s other television credits include “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” and “Awake,” and he has film credits including the indie dramas “To Whom It May Concern,” from French director Manu Boyer, and “The Adderall Diaries,” opposite Amber Heard and James Franco, which premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival.

The actor also can be seen with Tom Hanks in “Larry Crowne,” and in award-winners “From Prada to Nada,” “Fast Food Nation” and “The Dry Land.”

NCIS stars Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, Emily Wickersham, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum. It is produced by Belisarius Productions in association with CBS Television Studios.
