A bizarre and deadly incident takes place on live TV on this week’s BRAINDEAD. Specifically, the brain of Red’s Chief of Staff explodes. This increases the FBI’s focus on Laurel as a result of her experience with Dr. Daudier. It also has the side effect of Laurel starting to realize how much she cares about Gareth, since she freaks out when she learns that “someone” from Red’s office just died, but not knowing specifically who that is.
Meanwhile, Gustav gets in touch with Laurel after she sent him a message via the website last week. While she’s not exactly thrilled with his paranoid ramblings about the NSA and cell phones, she soon comes to realize he might be on to something with some of his bug theories. This prompts her to introduce Gustav to Rochelle and the trio start digging into the bug situation.
Finally, the campaign for Minority Whip starts to get contentious between Luke and Senator Ella Poundstone. When the Republicans hear about the election they figure out who would make for a better candidate for their side and try to integrate themselves in to the campaign. But the election really heats up when Luke tries to cover up his affair with his Chief of Staff, Scarlett, before Ella can expose it.
