AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Comic-Con Press Room: Ghost Rider and Daisy’s New Path

The cast of MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D, along with executive producers Jeph Loeb and Jeffrey Bell, and showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, talked to journalists at San Diego Comic Con this weekend and teased a darker path for Daisy, how Fitzsimmons are going to handle their new relationship and the new villain in town, Ghost Rider.

About Daisy’s new path. Chloe Bennet commented about Daisy being in a very dark place after the events of the season finale and having Lincoln sacrifice himself for her. “She cares so much about people, that she feels that she can’t be around them, because wherever she goes, something bad happens. It’s her way of protecting the team.” she says about the fact that Daisy has gone rogue.

Chloe also mentioned that Daisy has this guilt weighing on her shoulders, so she feels like she’s punishing herself and getting what she deserves by being alone. Her powers have also grown, but she is on her own now, so she doesn’t have anyone monitoring her. “We will definitely see the repercussions of her not taking care of herself physically the way she should be with her new powers. We will see her in a weakened state”, she teased.

Fitzsimmons. Fitz and Simmons now have to navigate this romantic relationship and face obstacles that come with working together and living together and have differing opinions. When asked if they are finally going to be happy for a little while, Elizabeth Henstridge said that she definitely hopes so.

“They definitely have a lot of love for each other. That’s the one constant in their lives.” Ian De Caestecker agreed.

Coulson’s new position in S.H.I.E.LD. Clark Gregg talked about the fact that Coulson is no longer the Director of SHIELD, and is now an Agent back on the field. We can expect to see Mack as his partner and, according to Clark and Henry Simmons, they make a pretty good team. When asked about how his dynamic with Daisy will be affected, Clark said that he still doesn’t know much, but that Coulson understands that Daisy is going through a tough time, and also blaming herself for everything that happened.

Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange. The producers and showrunners couldn’t spoil much about the anticipated Ghost Rider introduction, but what they teased about was that Gabriel Luna is joining the cast as Robbie Reyes. When asked about a possible mention of Doctor Strange – which premieres later this year – executive producers Jeph Loeb and Jeffrey Bell were very vague about it.

“Wouldn’t that be awesome?” Loeb teased and mentioned that whenever they can use material from the Marvel Universe, they most definitely will.

An all new season of MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D premieres on September 20 at 10/9c on ABC.
