PRETTY LITTLE LIARS to End With Season 7
Freeform has confirmed that the current season of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS will be the final one. The final 10 episodes of season 7 will premiere in April 2017 and will culminate in a two-hour series finale. The current summer finale will air on Tuesday, August 30.
“The final season will continue to be filled with homecomings and reunions, bringing back old characters as it has already done in the first half of the season, including Wren Kingston (Julian Morris), Pastor Ted Wilson (Edward Kerr), Jenna Marshall (Tammin Sursok), Paige McCullers (Lindsey Shaw) and Sydney Driscoll (Chloe Bridges). A #PLLWedding for one of the Liars is also in store for the latter half of the season. To conclude the series, the season seven finale will be a two-hour, drama-filled television event.”
“Through brilliant storytelling, compelling characters and social media phenomena, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS paved the way for television shows, writers and cast to interact and engage with audiences on a national and global scale like never before, which led the series to unparalleled success,“ said Karey Burke, executive vice president, Programming and Development, Freeform.
“It’s been an honor to work with such a talented cast and crew over the last seven years. We are a family, and it will be hard to say goodbye to a show that has made such an impact on young audiences and been a mouthpiece for cultural change. I’m excited for fans to finally have all of their questions answered, and I believe they will be satisfied with the wild ride that is our last ten episodes,” remarked I. Marlene King.
I. Marlene King’s new series FAMOUS IN LOVE will premiere following the spring premiere of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS.
The CW Unveils Key Art for SUPERGIRL, NO TOMORROW and FREQUENCY
The CW has unveiled key art for three of its new shows.
SUPERGIRL, of course, is not a new series, but it’s new to The CW next season. According to the network, in season 2 “Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO, protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.” SUPERGIRL premieres on Monday, October 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Meanwhile, NO TOMORROW stars Tori Anderson as the highly organized Evie Callahan whose life becomes chaotic when she meets Xavier Holliday (Joshua Sasse), a man who believes in doing what you want to do, when you want to do it. And he also believes that the world will be destroyed by an aseteroid in eight months. NO TOMORROW premieres on Tuesday, October 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
FREQUENCY, based on the movie of the same name, stars Peyton List Raimy Sullivan, a young detective who can communicate with her long-deceased police office father via a short-wave radio. When she warns him how to prevent his own death, that causes long-term ripple effects that affect her in the present. FREQUENCY premieres on Wednesday, October 5 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Photographer credits for FREQUENCY are Frank Ockenfels and Kharen Hill. Photographer credits for NO TOMORROW are Frank Ockenfels and J Squared Photography. Photographer credit for SUPERGIRL is Frank Ockenfels.
Phylicia Rashad Joins EMPIRE in a Recurring Role
THE COSBY SHOW’S Phylicia Rashad is joining EMPIRE in a recurring role for the show’s upcoming third season.
According to Fox, Rashad will portray Diana Dubois, “a powerhouse from one of New York’s oldest and most prominent African-American families. As the mother of ambitious city councilman Angelo Dubois (guest star Taye Diggs), she has her sights set on higher office for her only son, and she’ll stop at nothing to groom him. Diana’s interactions with Cookie, Lucious and the rest of the Lyon clan will lay bare the stark class divides that can exist, even within the black community.”

EMPIRE returns for an all new season on Wednesday, September 21 at 9/8c on Fox.
OUTLANDER: David Berry Joins the Cast as Lord John Grey
OUTLANDER won’t be returning for more than six months, but Starz is already announcing new casting news: David Berry has been recruited to play Lord John William Grey.
According to Starz, “Lord John William Grey is a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He is boyishly handsome with an upper class rearing — the consummate gentleman. However, a scandal from his past has relegated Lord John to an undesirable position as governor of a desolate prison in Northern Scotland.”
Starz also provided a few teasers about the upcoming third season of OUTLANDER (which will premiere in 2017): “The third season of OUTLANDER picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?”

ELTON JOHN: THE MILLION DOLLAR PIANO – LIVE IN LAS VEGAS – (Music)
This film features classic Elton John tracks performed either with his band, with percussionist Ray Cooper, or solo. In the 1980s, geeky Adam (Sean Giambrone) uses a video camera to document his family’s crazy life. His mom (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is overprotective, while his dad (Jeff Garlin) finds it difficult to parent without screaming. The family’s beloved grandfather (George Segal) is responsible for wild antics, which create more chaos.
ARROW – Season 4 (Dramas/Superheroes/Action & Adventure)
After being gone for five years, during which he suffered unimaginable ordeals, billionaire Oliver Queen returned home to Starling City with a mysterious agenda and a set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime in this hard-hitting action series. Reinventing the DC Comics character for a modern-day audience, the Arrow is every bit as formidable as the criminals he’s hunting.
THE FLASH – Season 2 (Dramas/ Superheroes/Action & Adventure)
Until recently, 25-year-old Barry Allen lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy forensic scientist in the Central City Police department. Barry is deeply in love with his best friend, Iris West, daughter of Barry’s surrogate father, Detective Joe West, who adopted Barry 14 years ago after Barry’s mother was murdered and his father, Henry Allen, received a life sentence for the crime – though Barry maintains that a mysterious “Man in Yellow” was responsible. With the help of his new scientist friends at S.T.A.R Labs, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon and Dr. Harrison Wells, Barry begins a journey as The Flash to protect the people of Central City from these powerful new threats.
DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW – Season 1 (Dramas/Sci-Fi & Fantasy/Superheroes/Action & Adventure)
Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill, DOCTOR WHO) is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Featuring ARROW’s Brandon Routh as The Atom and Caity Lotz as the resurrected Sara Lance/White Canary; with THE FLASH’s Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein alongside Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold and Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave; plus, the newest heroes Rip Hunter, Jeff Jackson (Franz Drameh, Edge of Tomorrow), and the reincarnated warrior queen Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee, Pippin), this singular super hero spinoff series pits the ragtag team against an immortal threat that remains one of the most powerful villains in the DC Comics universe.

EMPIRE Season 3 Preview: Mariah Carey Guest Stars and the Lyons Continue to Soldier On
Singing superstar Mariah Carey is making an appearance in an early October episode of EMPIRE and Fox has released an extended preview for season 3 that features Ms. Carey. She’s guest starring as Kitty, a singer who will be recording a duet with Jamal.
Elsewhere in the preview, we don’t yet know who might have been injured or died after last season’s big cliffhanger (which may have involved Anika and Rhonda going off a balcony), but the Lyon family looks like it’s still going strong and focusing more on external threats than internal bickering (at least for now).
The preview also features the return of return of Shyne (played by Xzibit, who is now a series regular) and Tariq (Morocco Omari), Lucious’ newly-discovered half-brother.
EMPIRE returns for an all new season on Wednesday, September 21 at 9/8c on Fox.
