In NOTORIOUS, Julia George is the producer of the hugely popular new show “Louise Herrick Live” (LHL) and she’s the type of person who decides what kind of news the average viewer needs. When she’s not trying to disguise the various scandals her boss, Louise Hennrick, gets herself involved in, she’s spinning the news on television.
Her most successful secret partnership is with Jake Gregorian, a popular defense attorney who enjoys the combative nature of courtrooms. He and Julia have an arrangement: he’ll give her scoops on the latest news and allow his clients to appear on her program and she’ll help him spin the truth to help out his clients.
In the pilot we’re introduced to Oscar Keaton, a wildly successful tech entrepreneur who also happens to be one of Jake’s clients. He’s accused of fleeing the scene of an accident involving a teenage boy and Jake uses his appearance on LHL to plant the seeds of doubt about Oscar’s guilt. Jake genuinely believes that Jake is innocent and that someone else used his car, but he needs to get to the bottom of what happened. Complicating matters is the fact that Jake used to be in love with Oscar’s wife, Sarah. When the police figure out that Sarah was the one driving the car, Jake is desperate to save her.
