BLINDSPOT Sneak Peeks: Trust Issues
So far this season, BLINDSPOT has been about Jane Doe rebuilding trust — with her former FBI team, in herself, and now with her former terror group.
Last week on BLINDSPOT, Jane Doe found herself sandwiched between Sandstorm — her former terror cell, and her former FBI anti-terror work group. Sandstorm had furnished Jane with a tattoo that was a clue to an upcoming terror event threatening hundreds of lives. They figured out it involved a DEA agent selling military weapons to a Mexican drug cartel, and they caught the cartel just in time to avert their use of a stinger missile to bring down a passenger jet full of Mexican officials. At the very end of the episode, Agent Zapata apologized for shooting Jane during the premiere episode, suggesting some new sense of trust, while Jane’s brother from Sandstorm, Roman, knocked her out and kidnapped her.
In tonight’s episode, Roman has brought Jane back to Shepherd, her mother and the leader of Sandstorm, to answer pointed questions about her escape from the CIA detention center; her answers don’t seem quite good enough. Jane will be forced to prove her loyalty by taking on an assassination mission. Weller and the FBI team will find themselves in a race to stop a number of escalating bombings in the city. Meanwhile, Patterson will be in the uncomfortable position of dodging questions about her “friend meeting” with the team’s counselor, Dr Borden, who last week asked her out to dinner.
See our sneak peeks below and watch BLINDSPOT on September 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC (U.S.) and CTV (Canada).
NCIS Sneak Peek: Metaphorically Speaking
NCIS is setting up a beautiful metaphor with a situation in which old and new team members are integrating into the new dynamic…by rearranging the setup of the bullpen so it works for everyone.
To use the visual impact of how to fit more people into the established setup by rearranging the familiar space is, in this writer’s opinion, nothing less that brilliant.
As the team struggles to establish its new identity, McGee (Sean Murray) will work to adjust to being the new senior field agent and will have a chance finally to shed any remaining “probie” persona.
Bishop (Emily Wickersham) will have an opportunity for a “butterfly” moment. Having worked at the NSA and losing her husband, Jake, who often was the only the person in whom she could confide, the possibility to live more “outside of her own head” could present itself.
Enter Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) who has unique insight into Bishop’s personality after having trained her,
Quinn loves to tease Bishop while bolstering her confidence at the same time. Look for this bond to develop into “girl power” opportunities that open up new avenues for both women and add an aspect that the show has not had yet…a female dynamic duo in the field.
Meanwhile, Quinn will have challenges of her own. She is in the position of being the “un-probie”…the new team member who may know more than her senior associates.
She has a secret that will be revealed over the next few weeks. Gibbs (Mark Harmon) knows the secret. Will it affect his relationship with her? Will her hair turn redder over the season?
Perhaps the most difficult adjustment to “team spirit” will be for Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama). Having been alone during eight years of undercover work, he not only will struggle to be in a world where a team has his back, he will have to redefine who he really is after pretending to be someone else for much of his adult life.
MI-6 Agent Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) will be the late-comer and not only have to learn NCIS procedures but also will be in what is to him, a foreign country where people drive on the “wrong” side of the road. Keep watch for some comedic opportunities.
As the three newbies work to find their place on the team (and the best place to sit), the other members will have to adjust to three new people instead of the usual solo replacement.
So how does the meshing of “who you were before versus who you are now” get illustrated? By sending the team to a reunion, of course.
Reunions…the place where people’s expectations of you often clash with who you once were and who you are now…another fabulous metaphor for the evolution of a team.
When a murder at a Quantico reunion needs to be investigated, the evolving NCIS team will begin its journey into what needs to be done and how to adjust to the situation of “what we were then and what we are now.”
Tonight’s episode, “Being Bad” features a guest cast that includes the delightful Vernée Watson as Miss Helen Frimkes, John Kapelos, Braden Lynch, Joshua LeBar, Devin Sidell, Mike Falkow, Conner Marx, and for our many SUPERNATURAL fans, Amy Gumenick, aka “Young Mary Winchester.” Executive Producer Steven D. Binder wrote “Being Bad,” which was directed by James Whitmore, Jr.
NCIS airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. on CBS in the U.S. and on Global TV in Canada.
THE CROWN Preview: Duty Must Always Win
When Princess Elizabeth first married Philip, they were a normal family. Or as normal as anyone who had grown up royal could be. They had two young children and a video camera and a lot of laughs and love.
But by the second episode of THE CROWN we see the moment when everything changes for Elizabeth. Her father – King George – dies and suddenly she is the Queen. Her grandmother lets her know that there is only one true way to be a monarch — to put duty first and never let her personal life get in the way of the crown. And from that moment on Elizabeth embraces her duty, even while her husband learns what it means to bow to his wife and his sovereign.
THE CROWN will premiere on Netflix on Friday, November 4.
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS Sneak Peeks: Hey Arnold!
Already in hot water over Brody’s involvement with a traitor and being dogged by FBI Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (new cast member Vanessa Ferlito), NCIS: NEW ORLEANS Special Agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) climbs further out on a weak limb and takes the NOLA team with him.
When Pride’s old buddy, former Navy Intelligence Analyst Elvis Bertrand (new recurring guest star Tom Arnold), is accused of murder, the FBI hijacks the case, commandeering the victims’ bodies and Loretta’s (CCH Pounder) findings, whisking almost all traces off to the FBI Crime Lab.
Led by FBI Agent Raymond Isler (guest star Derek Webster, RAY DONOVAN), the jurisdictional conflict leaves the NOLA team wondering if black mark on its reputation is the reason for the interference or if there is another agenda driving the action.
Sebastian (Rob Kerkovich) pockets something found in Navy Lt. Commander Henry Warbeck’s (guest star Jamie Renell) personal effects before the FBI takes away all of the evidence. Warbeck had been working on the cyber-security for an underwater fiber optics project, and the evidence could shed light on why he was killed.
Patton (Daryl “Chill” Mitchell) and Sebastian analyze the chip on what appears to be a key card, but the high-level encryption leaves the pair searching for answers.
The team chooses to ignore the FBI’s jurisdictional claim to the case since Pride is doing what he can to help Elvis, a convicted felon and a notorious hacker.
Despite Pride’s protests that the case has nothing to do with the FBI’s review of his team’s actions, Isler insists that Lasalle (Lucas Black) and Percy (Shalita Grant) submit to questioning.
Also guest starring in tonight’s episode, “Suspicious Minds” are Sprague Grayden, Brad James and Grace Sewell. “Suspicious Minds” was written by Executive Producer, Christopher Silber and directed by Michael Zinberg.
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and Global TV in Canada.

For Canadian Eyes Only: Shomi Streaming Service is Shutting Down
Here’s some bad news for Canadian TV Addicts: Today shomi announced that the streaming service will be shutting down as of November 30.
“We’re really grateful to Canadians who enthusiastically invited us into their living rooms and took us with them on their phones, tablets and laptops,” said David Asch, Senior Vice President and General Manager, shomi.
“The business climate and online video marketplace have changed markedly in the last few years. Combined with the fact that the business is more challenging to operate than we expected, we’ve decided to wind down our operations,” Asch said. “We’re proud of the great service we created and the role we played in the evolution of Canada’s video landscape.”
Current shomi members can keep streaming and binge-watching their favourite shows and movies online, via their Shaw or Rogers set-top box, on select tablets, mobile devices, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Apple TV, Chromecast, and PS4 until November 30, 2016.

THE BIG BANG THEORY Sneak Peek: Howard and Bernadette’s Very Nervous Day
Last week’s THE BIG BANG THEORY was all about the gathering of family for the re-enacting of Leonard and Penny’s wedding. We met Penny’s mother and brother for the first time, and we picked up where last season left off in the supposed encounter between Leonard’s father and Sheldon’s mother — there was no “there” there, although there was a hint that there may be a “there” there some day in the future. And as Amy drove Sheldon’s mother to the airport after the wedding, Sheldon’s mother taught Amy how to put Sheldon in his place. All good fun.
In this week’s episode, we’re treated to two important story lines. We knew from last season that the military was interested the guys’ award-winning paper and the resulting patent on the infinite persistence gyroscope. Last week a representative from the Air Force Department of Material Command showed up to talk with Howard, and Howard, who has been nervous about government “spooks” following him everywhere, avoided contact. This week, he finally gets the visit. Also last season we learned that Howard and Bernadette were expecting a baby, and this week we find out that Bernadette has been keeping the news a secret at work. Only, a certain friend let the news slip out to a colleague and now Bernadette is worried about the impact that might have.
See the sneak peeks below and watch THE BIG BANG THEORY tonight (September 26) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS (U.S.) and at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV (Canada).
