When we first meet the hero of RANSOM, crisis and hostage negotiator Eric Beaumont is facing off against a man who has taken several church parishoners hostage. Disregarding his own safety and convinced of his ability to talk the gunman down, Eric puts himself into harm’s way by walking into the room with the armed man.
Later we learn that Eric — the owner of Crisis Resolution — is very good at his job. So good, in fact, that Maxine Carlson is desperate to work with him. Unfortunately, the fact that she circumvents another employee’s vetting process and goes to the boss man herself to land a job doesn’t exactly impress that other employee, Oliver Yates.

Maxine is immediately thrust into Crisis Resolution’s newest case: the kidnapping of a young boy. The only problem with this scenario is that this boy had already been missing for years after disappearing from his parents’ house. So the team has a two-fold mission: retrieve the kidnapped child and figure out where he’s been for the last several years.
