Lily Sunder has been planning her revenge for over 100 years. When we first meet this SUPERNATURAL guest star in this week’s episode, we’ll learn that over a century ago Castiel and his former angel battalion murdered Lily’s family. Desperate for revenge, Lily has steeped herself in black magic and become an immortal witch, biding her time until she can get strike against the angels. When she starts coming after Castiel and his fellow angels, the Winchesters step in to help stop her.
Back in the fall, we visited with the SUPERNATURAL cast on location in a church where they were filming this episode (the interviews took place in the church’s basement). When asked, Misha Collins (Castiel) and Alicia Witt (Lily Sunder) had a few teases to offer about the upcoming episode, titled “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets”.
“We just came downstairs from doing a scene in an old church where we are dealing with some of Cas’ old battalion mates from heaven,” Collins said. “I think it’s interesting for him to rehash old memories for sure…..We’re seeing the earliest version of Cas to date.” Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) added that the Cas we’ll see in this episode is from “before he was humanized a little bit”.
When Witt auditioned for this episode, she said “I will say that when I auditioned for this, they told me very little about my character, similar to my experience auditioning for THE WALKING DEAD….[but] I knew what the title of the episode was, so I was like, ‘I bet you I have some pretty juicy stuff to do’.”
And we’ll soon learn that Lily isn’t just sticking with magic to harm her enemies — she’s also not hesitant to resort to fisticuffs: “I also got to do a lot of fighting in this episode. I’ve done quite a few fight scenes in my career, but I did different fighting in this than I’ve done, using different weapons than I’ve ever used before.”
As you can see from the photo above, Lily will also be crossing paths with the Winchester brothers and when asked about working with Padalecki and Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) she said “I do have interactions with them. They are two giant goofballs in real life. There’s always laughing. They have so much fun together.”
